Domestic mobile phone shipments in Q1: Vivo tops, Huawei falls to the third place

On April 29, it was reported that Canalys, a market research organization, released a report on the shipment volume of China's mobile phone market in the first quarter of 2021.

From the overall situation of the market, the total shipment volume of the domestic mobile phone market in the first quarter reached 92.4 million units, an increase of 27% over the same period last year. It is said that this is the first (year-on-year) growth in the Chinese mobile phone market in four years.

In terms of the rankings of various mobile phone manufacturers, Vivo replaced Huawei as the number one mobile phone manufacturer in the domestic mobile phone market in this quarter, with 21.6 million units shipped, an increase of 79% and a market share of 23%; OPPO followed suit, shipping 20.6 million units, up 65% (if the two sub brands of Europe and Canada are included, the Green Factory should be the first).

However, Huawei, which has been sanctioned by the United States and currently suffers from a serious shortage of chips and other parts (including the fact that Glory has been stripped from the Huawei brand), dropped to the third place. In the first quarter, it shipped 14.9 million units, down 50% year on year. From the current situation, Huawei's mobile phone shipments and rankings in the second quarter may continue to decline.

Xiaomi and Apple ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, with 13.5 million and 12 million mobile phone shipments, up 75% and 94% year on year, and 9.8 million mobile phone shipments from other brands in the market.
