The report shows that the total number of mobile phone shipments in the domestic mobile phone market in May 2021 will be 22.968 million, down 32% year on year. This is the second consecutive month that the number of mobile phone shipments in the domestic mobile phone market has declined year on year for the second consecutive month after a decline of 34.1% in April, and both are down by more than 30%.

According to the analysis of the report by the China Academy of Information Technology and Communications, the decline of domestic mobile phone shipments in May was mainly affected by several factors. First, the growth of shipments in the first quarter of this year exceeded 100%, making the demand released in advance; Second, the upstream chip supply of the industrial chain is tight; Third, Huawei's mobile phone shipments declined significantly due to the impact of sanctions (April and May last year was also the time period for Huawei's P40 series large-scale shipments), while other manufacturers failed to fully fill the market vacancy left by Huawei.

Of course, from January to May, the overall market still maintained a growth trend, with a cumulative shipment of 148 million mobile phones, up 19.3% year on year; In addition, 16.739 million 5G mobile phones were shipped in May, accounting for 72.9% of the total shipped in the same period, which was down from 77.9% in April.
