In the era of smart phones, the screen has accounted for a large part of the mobile phone area. The quality of the screen will not only affect the display effect, but also greatly affect the endurance of the whole mobile phone. Therefore, screen manufacturers have to make great efforts in screen technology. We often hear many terms about mobile phone screens, However, these terms are only vaguely understood by ordinary users. Let's give a brief introduction to some commonly used words.
brightness
Brightness refers to the brightness value of the screen in the full white color. The higher the brightness of the screen, the more beautiful the screen color we can see. However, in general, moderate brightness is enough. Too high brightness will make people feel dazzling. In addition, high brightness will also make the power consumption of the phone faster.
Another advantage of high screen brightness is that it can make it easier for us to see the screen clearly in the outdoor environment with strong light.
Color temperature
Color temperature refers to the change of color that human eyes feel under different energy of light waves. For mobile phones, we often talk about the warm screen and cold screen. People who are used to the warm screen will think the color of the cold screen is blue, while those who are used to the cold screen will think the screen of the warm screen is yellow. And so far, there is no good standard for the color temperature of mobile phone screens, so we will also see that even the color temperature of mobile phone screens of the same model will be different.
Different people have different preferences for the color temperature of the screen. It is said that East Asians prefer screens with high color temperature, while Europeans and Americans prefer screens with low color temperature.
contrast ratio
Generally speaking, the greater the contrast of the screen, the clearer and more eye-catching the image, and the more bright and colorful the color will be; A small contrast will make the whole picture gray. High contrast is very helpful for image clarity, detail performance, and gray level performance.
viewing angle
Visual angle refers to the angle from which the user can clearly observe all contents on the screen from different directions. Since the screen light source has certain directionality when output after refraction and reflection, it will cause color distortion when viewed beyond this range, but generally we use mobile phones to look directly at the screen, so the screen will not be distorted when viewed, but in some cases we will still look sideways at the screen, such as when playing in a temple to escape, Also, when looking at a friend's screen from the side, some poor screens will behave very badly. For an ordinary TFT screen, you can see that the screen color will change when the screen is slightly tilted. Generally speaking, the iPS screen and AMOLED The visual angle of the screen is pretty good, but the difference between different manufacturers is quite large.
PPI
PPI= Pixels per inch, The pixels per inch, the higher the ppi of the screen, the higher the pixel density of the screen, so the screen content looks more delicate. It looks more real. In fact, the calculation method is very simple. The number of pixels in the diagonal direction is calculated from the number of long and high pixels, and then the number of pixels in the diagonal direction is divided by the screen size to get the ppi.
Calculated the PPI of the two screens of Xiaomi mobile phone, 4.3 inches, resolution 1280 * 720,
PPI=√(1280^2+720^2)/4.3=341.5359……≈342
resolving power
Resolution is the precision of the screen image, which refers to the number of pixels that the display can display. Since the dots, lines and planes on the screen are all composed of pixels, the more pixels the display can display, the finer the picture will be. The higher the resolution, the more information displayed per unit area, and the more content we can see
Full fit
From the structure of the screen, we can roughly divide the screen into three parts: protective glass, touch screen and display screen from top to bottom. These three parts need to be fitted. Generally speaking, they need to be fitted twice, once between the protective glass and the touch screen, and the other time between the display screen and the touch screen. However, if the display screen and touch screen are completely bonded with water glue or optical glue in a seamless manner, it is called full bonding. Full paste and can make the screen have a better display effect, and can make the screen thinner.
In addition, some screens use the touch screen inside the display screen or the protective glass in order to reduce the times of fitting. Among them, the technology of putting touch screen into LCD pixels is called In Cell, while the method of putting touch screen between color filter and polarizer of display screen is called On Cell, and the integration of touch screen and protective glass is called OGS. Although these three technologies adopt different methods, they all reduce the touch layer, which can make the screen thinner and more economical.
