After AMOLED screens occupied the mobile phone market, everyone was forced to pay attention to eye care knowledge. The most eye protecting screen is naturally the non luminous E Ink screen. However, black and white, low refresh rate and price have always been the main reasons why E Ink ink screens cannot be popularized. The most famous E Ink device is Amazon's Kindle series e-book products.
On January 19, it was reported that Yuantai Technology, the core manufacturer of ink screen, officially released the latest second-generation ACeP "color electronic paper" E Ink Gallery 4100.
E Ink Yuantai Technology released the first generation of "ACeP (Advanced Color Electronic Paper)" in 2016. At that time, it used to display different colors by putting various colors of pigments in the electrophoresis solution, while maintaining low power consumption and color image display. However, this version requires a thick glass color filter, which is thicker and less transparent, so it is not suitable for use on e-book readers (mainly on e-boards).
In 2019, E Ink Yuantai Technology developed Kaleido color e-paper technology, and this screen appeared on later Hisense color ink screen mobile phones. The new E Ink Gallery 4100 discards the original glass filter, and the color layer is directly attached to the electronic ink film, reducing the thickness and weight. There are multiple primary color single-layer electrophoresis solutions (placed in microcapsules or micro cup structures) that change color under TFT control. This generation can display 400 million colors, with faster refresh speed and fewer ghosts.
The newly released second generation ACeP "color e-paper" development kit has been sent to e-reader manufacturers. The first commercial products may not be released until 2022. But it is estimated that the price will still be moving.
