According to the introduction of Taiwan Zhongshi Electronic News, on August 3, TSMC's 12 inch wafer factory and operation headquarters in Hsinchu Science Park in Taiwan were attacked by computer viruses. Affected by the virus attack, all production lines of the factory were stopped. At the same time, the fabs in Tainan Fab 14 and Taichung Fab 15 also stopped production due to virus attacks.

The affected production line is mainly responsible for products with 7nm, 16nm and 28nm processes. The order and capacity of the production line are very tight, and the affected capacity is expected to be more than 60000 pieces.

TSMC officials have confirmed the authenticity of the virus attack, and said that some production lines have stopped operations on production lines that may be affected due to the virus attack. According to the report from Bloomberg, the name of the virus attacking TSMC this time is "Wannacry", and its main harm is that it will cause the system blue screen crash and block the contents of documents and databases.

On August 4, the TSMC official again issued a statement, saying that the virus attack had been controlled, some production lines had returned to normal, the affected production lines were gradually recovering, and it was expected that the normal operation of the production lines could be restored within one day.
