The heat sink plays a vital role in the stability of the CPU. For general low-end CPUs, the original heat sink can meet the demand. However, for high-end or overclocked CPUs, due to their powerful performance, higher power and very high heating, they also have higher requirements for radiators.
As a loyal DIYer, all desktop computers at home are DIY assembled. Assembling the computer will be more suitable for you in terms of configuration and appearance. As for the choice of CPU heat sink, my requirement is to give consideration to both silence and appearance as far as possible under the condition of meeting the requirements.
The i7 6700K host at home has large power and needs to be used over frequently, so it chooses to have a light effect water-cooling radiator. The other i7 7700 host uses an ordinary 2-heat pipe air-cooled radiator, which meets the heat dissipation needs, but it does not have light effects, and the appearance is not very satisfactory. I always want to replace it.
ok I confess that I am actually a lecher! In order to make the host more cool and personalized, I am willing to do it. Because of this application, I was lucky to get Love to play computer games I'm really happy to have the experience qualification of the trial product of "Cool Cool Supreme Blizzard T610P air-cooled radiator". Thank you @ Aituoji for giving me this opportunity, and thank @ Cool Cool Supreme for providing products.
{Appearance, details}
Blizzard T610P product's outer package design is simple, with black as the main color on the front and back, and purple around. There is only a huge product object pattern on the front, and the image highlights the RGB light effect, which looks very cool. The functional characteristics and various parameters of the product are marked on the back and both sides. Almost all the data of the product can be seen from the above.
Looking at the wrinkles around the outer package, I was really worried about the damage or deformation of the product. After unpacking, take down the accessory small paper box and the instruction manual above. It is found that the radiator body below is tightly wrapped by a thick black foam box. The rough transportation of the express did not damage the radiator, but it can still be delivered intact.
Blizzard T610P uses two cooling fans with one in and one out wind directions to form air ducts, which can distribute heat more efficiently. The fan blade is made of transparent acrylic material. As a cooling fan with lighting effect, this transparent material will be more conducive to the emission and transmission of light, producing a crystal clear effect.
The fan protective cover is made of black plastic material, and its edge is made into a buckle shape. The fan protective cover is fixed with the radiator body in a buckle way, which is easy to remove.
The first impression of getting the product is: "How big!" The big one is beyond my expectation.
The product size of 122.3 * 112.8 * 166.5mm and the weight of 1120g remind me of the word "domineering". The radiator I used before is a thin "little brother" in front of it.
The biggest feature of Blizzard T610P is that it supports RGB light effect. A total of 16.7 million color displays can meet almost all color matching requirements with multiple display modes and brightness adjustment. There is always one for you! Compared with the monochrome LED lights that have been used before, the light effect is much richer.
In fact, I haven't used RGB light effect (radiator) fan before, so I couldn't help but connect it before I got on the computer. The light is evenly distributed under the high-quality transparent acrylic fan blade, which is soft in vision and will not form an obvious point light source phenomenon. Compared with the dazzling light cast by ordinary LED fans, it is visually superior in terms of both grade and comfort.
The radiator top cover is designed to be similar to the shield, with the brand logo in the middle. The four cutting lines around and beside the logo also have the effect of RGB light strips. With the lights of the fans on both sides, the radiator can get a strong sense of atmosphere on the whole after the power is turned on.
The fan on both sides can be disassembled by pushing the buckle slightly with your hand. As you can see, the T610P uses two 12cm MasterFan 120 AB RGB fans. The four corners of the fan are respectively provided with a shockproof gasket, which can further reduce the vibration noise caused by the rotation of the fan.
The fan supports PWM adjustment function, with speed of 600-1800 RPM and maximum noise of 31dBA.
The thickness of each exposed aluminum metal fin is 0.4mm, and it is orderly arranged at 2mm intervals. Six U-shaped copper radiating tubes are inserted and tightly welded.
The combination of heat pipe directly contacting the base is selected for the heat pipe and fence base, which can more directly transmit the heat energy emitted by the CPU. The welding process is good, the combination is tight, and the flatness is OK, but there is still room for further polishing, and the more smooth contact surface will have better heat dissipation effect.
The heat transferred from the heat pipe will be quickly transferred to the large area aluminum metal fins closely connected with it, and finally the heat will be dissipated by the cooling fan.
The overall workmanship of the radiator is excellent, the detail treatment is good, and there is no obvious burr. Precise workmanship is not only beautiful, but also can improve the heat dissipation effect.
{Installation process}
Looking at the numerous accessories configured for the radiator, you may think that completing the installation will be a big project. In fact, the instructions attached to the Blizzard T610P vividly illustrate in the form of pictures and text, which is easy to understand.
T610P supports AMD and Intel dual platform installation. In recent years, CPU (motherboard) can be supported, so it is equipped with two sets of brackets and fasteners. In fact, before installation, as long as you find out the corresponding set of fasteners, screws and other accessories according to the platform of your host, the installation will be very simple.
In the face of such a huge radiator, you should first confirm whether your host has enough space to place it before installation. Although there is clear size data, the data is somewhat abstract, so you need to confirm it with your own eyes before you can rest assured.
After visual inspection of the host, there should be no problem with the installation, and there is enough space for the bottom plate.
My host CPU is i7 7700, LGA 1151 pin is within the support range of the radiator. Therefore, Intel's set of bracket fasteners, buckles and screws were selected. The base plate is a dual platform joint adaptation. Next, install the base plate and fastening bracket according to the instructions. It will be very simple for those who have hands-on skills.
There are enough installation holes reserved at the bottom plate installation part of the chassis, so it is not necessary to remove and install the main board, just remove the original fan, graphics card, memory and other accessories that will hinder the installation.
First install the bottom plate, tighten it with the fixing nuts, and then apply silicone grease on the CPU to install the radiator body. Because the two radiators configured for the radiator have two wind directions, one in and one out, pay attention to the direction of the air duct during installation, and do not reverse it.
It should be noted that silicone grease only needs to be evenly coated with a thin layer, which is actually used to fill the gap between the CPU top cover and the radiator base, increase the tightness between the two, and enhance the cooling effect. If it is too thick, it may also reduce the cooling effect.
And pay attention to fixing the radiator to the CPU. When tightening the screws, the operation should be carried out in a diagonal order, so as to ensure more uniform force during installation.
After the installation, it is better to rearrange the wires in order to look beautiful and arrange them neatly to avoid clutter.
Here are two problems found after installation:
1. The memory socket on the motherboard is covered by a heat sink, so only a relatively short memory module can be installed. My memory is equipped with light efficiency and heat sink. It is too high to install and can only be used in another socket near the outside. However, this is not a big problem for me. Now, a single 8G memory is enough, and I don't plan to increase it in the near future.
2. The height of the radiator after installation exceeds the chassis by about 1cm, and the upper rear corner of the side panel cannot be fully buckled, which affects the appearance. The only solution is to remove the top cover of the radiator, but I think it would be even more ugly without the top cover. It's better to loosen the back and top of the side panel of the chassis.
{Use and experience}
As an RGB radiator, Blizzard T610P has done a good job in terms of compatibility. It is compatible with the RGB light synchronization control technology of ASUS Aura, MSI RGB, Gigabyte Fusion, ASRock RGB and other brand motherboards.
My host is configured as: Intel i7 7700 CPU、 ASUS B250M motherboard, 8G memory (with light strip), GTX1060 6G graphics card. The motherboard does not have RGB lamp effect control function. But don't worry, the T610P is additionally equipped with a C10LRGB controller to adjust the light efficiency. The controller can adjust the light mode, color and brightness respectively, so that we can also enjoy 16.7 million kinds of brilliant light effects. The keys of the controller from top to bottom are: mode conversion key, color conversion key and brightness adjustment key.
Turn on the power supply of the host, and the light of T610P will light up slowly. The light is bright but evenly distributed, which is soft visually. Compared with the dazzling light of other LED fans in the chassis, it has more atmosphere, stronger rendering power and better visual effect.
The main color of the fan in the original chassis is warm color, mainly red. According to personal preference, light blue belonging to cold color is selected as the contrast color to make the color matching more stable. For the previous light effect, it is less impatient and more calm!
Of course, through RGB controller, T610P has six light effect modes, seven colors and five levels of brightness for combination and selection, which can adjust more light effects.
Here are six light effect modes:
1. Constant light mode: the most common mode. In this mode, it is displayed in a single color way for a long time. Seven different colors can be changed by using the color conversion key, and the brightness can be adjusted by using the brightness adjustment key;
2. Monochrome flashing mode: a single color flashes continuously at a fixed frequency. In this mode, color conversion can be used to convert colors, and the brightness level can be adjusted by the brightness adjustment button;
3. Single color breath mode: single color flickers slowly in a breath like light and shade gradient. In this mode, the color conversion key is used to adjust the color, and the brightness adjustment key does not work;
4. Gradual change mode: various colors are changed in order by breathing, which can display 16.7 million colors in theory. In this mode, the color conversion can be used to adjust the gradient speed, and the brightness adjustment button does not work;
5. Seven color flashing mode: seven colors are in order, each color flashes three times at a certain frequency, and switches repeatedly. In this mode, the color conversion can be used to adjust the flickering time interval, and the brightness adjustment button does not work;
6. Colorful breathing mode: seven colors flicker slowly in the way of breathing like light and shade gradient, changing one color at a time. In this mode, the color conversion and brightness adjustment buttons do not work;
Through these light effect modes and color and brightness adjustment, we can choose what we need according to different environments and moods, and there will always be one suitable for us.
{Noise and heat dissipation performance test}
Before the computer test, first turn off the redundant chassis fans, and only retain the necessary accessories such as the graphics card and power supply to ensure normal use. The average ambient noise is 36dBA. The following mainly monitors the noise and heat dissipation capacity (temperature) of the T610P from the scenes of the simulation host in daily applications, games and full load operation.
The two MasterFan 120 RGB fans configured in T610P support PWM intelligent adjustment, with the rotational speed of 600-1800 RPM, air volume of 53.38CFM, and maximum noise of 31dBA.
First, the daily office work, web browsing, video watching and other applications are carried out. In these scenarios, the CPU and memory utilization is at a low level.
The average speed of radiator fan shall be kept at 720 rpm, and the maximum speed shall not exceed 900 rpm. The maximum temperature is 54 ℃, the minimum temperature is 27 ℃, and the average temperature is 35 ℃.
The noise measured at a distance of about 10cm from the radiator was only 42dB on average. The noise value in the whole process was within the range of 32dB-54dB. From the subjective perspective, in the environment at that time, if the distance of 1m was not paid special attention, the noise from the radiator fan rotation could not be felt. This noise test was very satisfactory. Even in the dead of night, this decibel value will not cause trouble.
The familiar Master Lu temperature and pressure test project was used to simulate the use environment of the host when the CPU was in high occupancy. At this time, the graphics card was also running in high intensity, which is equivalent to the scenario that we usually play large games. Although it is only an entertainment level software, it is better than a wide audience and has certain reference value.
In this state, the change of radiator fan speed is not very large, the average speed is 919 rpm, and the maximum speed is 995 rpm. The maximum temperature is 59 ℃, and the average temperature is 52 ℃. The temperature pressing is good, not high temperature.
Since the overall speed increase is not large, the noise change is also small, with an average of only 45dB. The noise value is within the range of 32dB-57dB, and the subjective feeling change is not large.
Master Lu's temperature and pressure test does not allow CPU, memory, graphics card, hard disk and other hardware to run in a full load environment. In order to test the noise value of the host and the temperature of the CPU in the limit state, the system stability test in AIDA64 is used for copying for 1 hour.
The average temperature finally stabilized at 63 ℃ and the maximum temperature was 69 ℃, but the radiator fan reached a maximum of 1149 rpm and an average speed of 1116 rpm, far from the maximum speed limit of 1800 RPM, indicating that there is still a lot of room for heat dissipation. At the same time, the noise is still the same, without much change. Both the heat dissipation ability and the noise performance are satisfactory.
There is no harm without comparison. Let's see the performance of the old fan when the system is fully loaded.
After 12 minutes of testing, the maximum temperature reached 92 ℃, the average temperature was 84 ℃, the average fan speed was 1961 rpm, and the maximum speed was 2014 rpm. At this time, neither the temperature nor the noise was satisfactory. The previous radiator still has insufficient temperature pressing capacity when the main engine is fully loaded, which is difficult. Running in such a state for a long time may affect the stability of the system.
Of course, in general daily use, even if you play a large stand-alone game, the general system will not stay fully loaded for such a long time.
{Summary}
The biggest highlight of Blizzard T610P is the gorgeous RGB lights. When the power is turned on, the lights of the double fans and the top cover come on, and the blurred light effect makes everyone like it. Even my little princess wants to touch the radiator in the host every day. At the same time, the adjustment of its multi mode, multi color and multi-level brightness can also suit the preferences of different people.
The strong heat dissipation ability and low noise performance are also impressive. 6. Heat pipe double fan and large area aluminum fin for heat dissipation enable it to have excellent heat dissipation capability through precise welding process. The 12cm high-quality fan with low speed and large air volume can meet the heat dissipation demand by keeping low speed in daily use, so that its noise is also controlled at a very low level.
The full platform support of AMD and Intel and the additional RGB light effect controller make it more popular, not only for a small number of people, but also for more people to experience the charm of RGB lights.
Of course, it also has some shortcomings: the huge size will interfere with the use of the nearby memory slots after installation, and sometimes the height may exceed the height limit of the chassis (my current host side panel is barely covered!). At the same time, the dual module integrated backplane is also a bit large, which may cause inconvenience in the installation of chassis with insufficient reserved openings. Generally speaking, the radiator has certain requirements for the chassis, and you must check the size before purchasing!
Finally, I want to say that after experiencing the Cool Cool Supreme RGB heat sink, I have become more obsessed with the RGB light effect. I hope I can have the opportunity to experience the RGB chassis again in the future! Nothing is impossible. Thanks again for the opportunity to try @ iTac and @ Cool Cool.
