On the eve of this CES 2017 exhibition, ODG launched new consumer grade AR glasses R-8 and R-9, which can provide holographic images similar to Microsoft Hollens glasses. This company focused on AR glasses was founded in 1999, formerly a military enterprise. At the end of last year, the company just reached a strategic cooperation with China Mobile Migu Video.
The ODG R-8 and R-9 AR glasses use Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. From the details of the current exposure, the Snapdragon 835 has quite strong independent computing power, and does not need to be connected to a PC, but its system uses an Android system customized based on Android Nougat 7.0. In addition, these two AR glasses are equipped with many sensors. The R-9 glasses are expected to sell for $1799, equivalent to about 12500 yuan, but even that is far less than the R7 glasses of $2750 (equivalent to about 19200 yuan). The developer version will be launched in the second quarter of 2017.
R9 AR glasses are equipped with double 1080 resolution light field transparent glasses and a 50 degree vertical viewing angle. The lower priced R-8 configuration has a lower resolution and a lower vertical viewing angle of 40 degrees. However, the price of the machine is expected to be less than 1000 dollars, that is, no more than 7000 yuan.
