The current flat screen TV market is dominated by 4K smart TV, and more and more traditional manufacturers, even new generation manufacturers, have also invested in the battle of 4K smart TV. Traditional ordinary TV has gradually been replaced by smart TV.

However, as an audiophile, the demand for smart TV is not only the excellent display effect of pictures, but also the number of functions. More importantly, the sound quality effect should be excellent. Although you have your own audio, it is usually only opened when watching blockbusters or listening to music. Visual+auditory enjoyment can bring a higher level of audio-visual enjoyment.

How to buy 4K TV

In the purchase of 4K TVs, first try to choose 4K TVs above 50 inches, and choose more well-known brands; The most effective way is to find hardware configuration parameters on the Internet and confirm the chip and screen materials. In addition, pay attention to the type and number of HDMI interfaces; If allowed, you can carry the downloaded 4K standard video and 4K test pictures for on-site testing.

For 4K TVs on the market, it is difficult to meet the requirements of 4K for TVs below 50 inches, which is often called fake 4K. One is more conscientious. It is equipped with 4K screen as standard, but the chip does not have 4K video playback ability or poor decoding ability, which can be verified by downloading 4K standard video; The other is to cheat on the screen. The interpolation algorithm is used to enhance the pixels and disguise the screen as a 4K screen. However, the chip supports 4K hardware decoding, which is difficult to distinguish. At present, it can only be distinguished by finding whether there is RGB in the parameters (4K TV is RGB).

Skyworth, a traditional TV manufacturer, recently released the Kukai 50A2 HiFi big content TV, which is a smart TV with 4K ultra clear screen and supports HDR and MEMC motion compensation. In addition, it also adopts JBL A-level certification and supports DTS sound effect design. However, the actual experience and the actual presentation of picture and sound quality remain to be verified.

Product configuration parameters

Here are the parameters displayed in the product, and the following will be tested and verified by software.

As a 4K extremely clear TV, it is the standard configuration of 4K screen. 50A2 adopts the design of side light backlight, and its dynamic response is 9ms. The design advantage of side light backlight is that it uses fewer LED grains, and the body can be very thin (screen thickness is about 11mm).

However, as the light guide plate is applied to the screen, the brightness of the surrounding edges is generally brighter than that of the center of the screen, and the temperature is higher than that of the middle of the screen. The dynamic response is 9ms. Basically, there is no residual problem caused by slow response speed. As for the 3-4ms advertised by some manufacturers, it may be just a difference in time calculation, as long as the human eye does not feel the residual image clearly and does not affect the viewing. It supports MEMC and HDR functions, so the display effect will be better, but I don't know how the actual experience effect will be.

The material selection of the Kukai 50A2 is a little special, because it uses a metal shell and screws to fix the screen, which is mainly used to achieve better heat dissipation.

The Cookai 50A2 uses the common 2G DDR3+8G eMMC flash memory, so there is not much to be surprised about. Two USB3.0 interfaces can support 2TB USB storage, which is a good thing. At least several 1TB mobile hard disks and hard disk boxes can be used together.

The interface part adopts the common side plug-in type, which is convenient for wiring and is not easy to enter the soil. What is HDR

HDR full spell is "High Dynamic Range", that is, high dynamic lighting rendering or high dynamic range image display. HDR provides more dynamic range and image details through the technology used to expand the video brightness range. For the environment with strong light contrast, it can display images containing highlights and dark details at the same time, so that people can have a more comprehensive view of the object.

Then there is no function switch marked as HDR in the Kukai 50A2. In fact, it should be a 4K map engine, which is also a function used to increase color saturation and contrast. This is the display effect of 4K HDR video in the default mode, and the stone outline in the depth of the picture can be clearly displayed.

Taking the 4K Demo video as an example, compare the effect pictures before and after closing and opening. The same picture is only compressed in volume, without any correction. The picture size is slightly different. It can be seen from the comparison that there are more details in the display, including the rocks on the left side of the waterfall, the grass and the lake below.

The application of video is one aspect, and the other aspect is the display effect of pictures. After opening a 4K high-definition image, the system can perform similar image trimming functions on the image to enhance the color and light and shade contrast of the image. What is MEMC

The full name is Motion Estimate and Motion Compensation, that is, motion estimation and motion compensation, to make TV picture quality display clearer and smoother and reduce tailing. Its principle is to use the dynamic image system, insert a motion compensation frame between the traditional two frames of images, and make the moving picture display clearer and smoother by improving the refresh rate, so as to achieve the effect of removing the residual image of the previous frame and improving the dynamic definition.

The advantage of MEMC technology is to eliminate motion jitter, eliminate motion tailing, and improve clarity. In Kukai 50A2, 4K MEMC and image noise reduction functions can be turned on or off manually. For the subtitle display of some marquees or dynamic objects, turning off MEMC will intuitively feel the blurring of subtitles or objects, and sometimes it will obviously feel the jam. After turning on MEMC, the clarity will be improved and the jam will be reduced.

The following test experience is based on this version.

Kukai 50A2 didn't use IPS hard screen, which surprised me a little. This time, we used the mass creation 4K screen of Wanwan Shipping Factory. According to the previous situation of Qunzhuang and Japanese and Korean tablet manufacturers, this screen has no problem in 4K display, at least it can meet the 4K standard.

Startup time is slightly slow

The time from pressing the power key to start timing to the screen lighting is about 6 seconds, and the time to the Home interface is about 26 seconds. Cold start time is very close to standby start time.

The maximum power consumption is 100W when starting up; Enter the system screen and stabilize it at about 65W; After the screen is turned off, the standby power is only 0.4W (the measurement data source is from the smart socket of MAOHA).

Menu interface

The TV system uses the Android 6.0 based CookOpen 5.2 system, which gives the first impression of simplicity and freshness in color. The UI is designed in a horizontal way, which is a very common waterfall.

The section classification is simple and clear, and can quickly find the content you need. In addition to the common film and television sectors, application markets and other standard configurations, the Kukai 50A2 has also added its own shopping mall, travel and brand sectors. It seems that TV shopping will also be embedded into the system, but how many people will buy it, and vaguely feel that it is time to see TV advertisements when starting up.

The most attractive feature in the system section is the smart home function. At the moment when smart home has become popular, the linkage between various smart devices is necessary and necessary. What needs to be confirmed is the number and types of brands supported.

The functions such as setting options are hidden and can be called by pressing the direction key. Only for users like to play more local videos, the "local media" function should be placed directly on the main interface.

Kukai account is an online account registered and logged in. You can get a 2-year free VIP member to watch the video content of the member. After logging in, the avatar will be displayed on the titlebar above, as shown below on the right side of the WiFi signal icon.

Kukai Children is an independent interface specially designed for children, which can be regarded as another account. After switching, different UIs will be changed. The built-in applications are also different, somewhat similar to multi account login. More on that later.

Hardware detection

The Mali-T820 (OpenGL ES3.1) is common in the current low-end smart TVs and some TV boxes. It has the same architecture and chip as the Mali-T830, but its performance is worse than the Mali-T830, but not better than the T760.

The resolution of the screen is still 1920 * 1080240dpi, which is little different from the mainstream 4K TV. 2G DDR3 three channel memory. After running CPU-Z, the available memory becomes 675MB. The 8G storage space shows only 4.45G, which is naturally less usable and more 3G. However, it is good not to use 4G storage. If you play more games and install more programs, you can add a TF card, such as a 32G or 64G HC I card.

The system uses the Android 6.0 based Kukai system, but from the version information, the version used is the userdebug version, not the official release version, which means that there are still some bugs to be solved.

software test

The score is just a reference, we need to pay more attention to the actual performance of the product.

The following figure shows the results of running score test with Anthare TV version. The score of 45063 is above the average level. The main component of the score is the CPU performance and UX performance. Compared with the 3D performance, it is average.

In the running score ranking, the Kukai 50A2 is currently ranked second only to LeEco Max4. The gap is obvious, with nearly half of the performance scores. It is higher than the LeEco Max3-65, more than 3000 points. As for other PPTVs, Storm AV, 17TV and Hisense VIDAA, they are more different, and have no comparative value. However, the premise of comparison and reference is that the configuration is the same or close, so the comparison result is not significant, it is only a reference.

The overall score of using PCMark is 3790. In contrast, the video playback performance is low and limited by GPU. The CPU performance is stable at 80%, and the amplitude change is relatively stable without excessive fluctuation.

The internal storage uses 8G eMMC5.0, which is quite different in random and sequential reading and writing. The sequential reading can reach 120.35MB/s, but the random reading can reach 12.31MB/s, which is 9 times faster. Sequential writes can reach 14.53MB/s, and one random change to a poor 1.53MB/s.

Screen test

As a large screen TV with 4K ultra-high definition LCD screen, screen detection naturally requires careful inspection. Imagine if you would return the product if you saw the screen with serious light leakage and many bright spots. This is the result of using a 4K TV screen test software first. The score of 55 points is relatively low, but it is only an elementary test of pictures. Let's try other test contents.

Light leak test

The test is conducted in full black without revision, and it is obtained by taking pictures directly in manual mode. The red dot on the screen is the power on status indicator, and the TV is indeed in the power on status. It seems that there is no obvious light leakage, and it looks better than the IPS screen.

However, if you change the mode to take photos, the actual situation is like this. The screen has a cloud like display. The brightness is not very uniform. The brightness of the four corners is indeed higher. There is a slight light leak, which is also related to the lighting method.

spot detection

The larger the screen, the higher the probability of bright spots. But there is no obvious brightness in the all black picture above, slightly different. Is there no bright spot?

Yes, but it can be seen clearly in other colors. There are three computers on hand, which are distributed in different locations, far apart and small in area. According to the definition of the national standard, the three highlights are all normal and qualified, but they still feel slightly uncomfortable after seeing them.

In the solid color test, it is also confirmed from the side that the surrounding corner area is higher in brightness than the central area, and the color looks lighter than the central area.

Gray scale test

In the grayscale picture, the first level of the dark part can be seen clearly, and the bright part is clearly distinguished, which shows good performance in the performance effect. Another test content is the residual image. The corresponding time of the Kukai 50A2 TV image is 9ms. The switching test is conducted with grayscale images and other solid color images, and no residual image is found.

But for the problem of residual images, in addition to the picture switching test and rolling caption news, we still rely on the video marquee effect to test. In terms of display effect, the Kukai 50A2 did not see any obvious residue, and the screen switching was relatively timely.

The screen refresh rate is the common refresh rate of mainstream TVs and laptops, namely 60Hz. Although the higher the refresh rate, the better, especially for gamers. TV 120Hz refresh rate products also appear. For ordinary users, 60Hz has been able to meet the needs of daily viewing experience, and there is no need to blindly pursue a higher refresh rate.

viewing angle

I don't value the visual angle too much. Although the promotion is about 178 degrees of visual angle, because there are few people sitting down to watch TV at the same time at home, and it's not nice to watch TV in the side. Many people go to the outdoors or some stores directly when they are gathering or watching football.

The effect of Kukai 50A2 is not blurred or fog screen appears in the visual angle, so the display effect is good.

4K effect picture test

After all, 4K detection is essential when it comes to the problem of true and false 4K.

The Kukai 50A2 is relatively clear in font and line display, and can meet the 4K requirements of the logo. Compared with its own micro whale TV WTV43K, it has been completely killed.

The dot matrix looks a bit dazzling, but you can clearly see the block matrix.

It is stable and excellent in the restoration of tone levels, and some levels of gray scale can be distinguished without skipping or merging. Dark and light parts can reach the best state. The 21st order gradual change is excessively smooth and smooth, without obvious step merging or jumping.

The following color display picture has not been revised, which will slightly differ from the actual display effect seen by the eyes, but will not affect the overall display trend. The color change is relatively gentle and smooth.

It can also be verified from the HSB color system diagram below that there is no merging of adjacent color blocks, and there is no obvious change in color deviation and light and shade. However, from the color distribution map below, it can be seen that the distribution area of green is less than that of blue and red, showing a slightly elliptical shape rather than a triangle represented by blue and red.

The certification can also be obtained from the color ball diagram on the right. Compared with the other eight color ball graphs, the green ball has obvious ring band mutation, but only in a limited range.

The overall performance of the color display is commendable, and the details are slightly insufficient.

4K effect video test

Several standard 4K videos were selected for the test, including beautiful women eating roast duck (20mb), Samsung 4K Demo and dynamic definition test videos, which were watched in the default mode.

The following pictures are the actual pictures taken during movie playing. Due to the camera, lens and personal photographing mode, the actual display effect will be different from what is actually seen. Only the volume of the pictures will be compressed without any revision.

Thanks to HDR and MEMC functions, it performs well in color saturation and contrast. No matter the oily water flowing out from the process of cutting the roast duck, the thorns on the lobster legs, the bees in the sunflowers, and the insects in the flowers can be clearly displayed. The display of facial details is relatively natural. The white color of the face is not bleached, and the red color of the face is also relatively natural. In addition, the external makeup can also clearly see the graininess, with excellent restoring effect.

In the previous test, it was mentioned that green in the color distribution map is an oval display. The display of green objects is that the green color is relatively deep and looks bright, such as the green lizard in the following picture. In contrast, the display of red flowers is much more natural, without the bright red color.

Compared with the whole test, there must be defects, and the overall display effect is relatively satisfactory.

I was slightly disappointed with the support of video formats. I thought that there were at most two formats that were not fully supported or not supported, but I found that there were five formats that were not supported, three of which were MKV formats, and 2K and 4K formats were not supported. Only MP4 format is not fully supported, and the playback is stuck.

Product function experience

For intelligent hardware products, hardware is the foundation, and software is the superstructure based on this foundation. The number of functions, experience and ease of use directly affect the user's experience.

As an intelligent TV, the first thing to meet people's audio-visual needs is the quantity and quality of the built-in free video resources, which is very important for some users. It is best that the hot shows can be updated synchronously. If you are a regular drama chaser, you may not care too much about it, because you have your own well-known APP to watch.

Built in resources

The video resource platform is iQIYI, which guarantees the number of movie sources to a certain extent. The film resources are mainly domestic, including Japanese and Korean dramas, but not American dramas, including European and American films. There are free resources, but generally the quality of videos is not high. Most of them do not have high-definition or ultra definition modes, so the viewing effect and experience are relatively ordinary. In terms of video classification, some classic old films can also be found, such as "Wulin Waizhuan" and "Plum Blossom Sannong". Some offline films in the film are also included, such as Old Gun, Crazy Animal City, etc.

In addition to free movie sources, there are two modes of membership and charging. Members pay 30 yuan a month, and they can watch all the videos of the member. The source quality is high, and most of them have the ultra clear H265 mode. The charge is that no matter whether the member is a member or not, there will be an extra charge.

Buying the Kukai 50A2 can receive two years of free membership, which is not a small benefit for users. But if the price will be more favorable if I don't choose a two-year member, I will choose not to be a member. Although the TV has built-in iQIYI platform, the member account received cannot be logged in and used on iQIYI.

Whether it is a 4K TV or not, the USB3.0 interface should be a standard configuration, because the storage devices of the USB3.0 interface are becoming more and more popular. For example, when testing 26G 4K high-definition movies with USB2.0 and USB3.0 devices, there will be a difference of more than ten seconds between the time of loading and playing after loading and dragging.

There is no 2TB hard disk at hand. I just tried some common storage devices, no matter hard disk box or mobile hard disk, which can correctly identify and read the contents of the device.

In addition, the USB interface is directly connected to the wired keyboard and mouse for use, plug and play, which is very convenient.

TF card slot test

The reason why TF testing is necessary is that some products are too arrogant, and there are card picking situations, which makes people speechless.

Due to the limited types of TF, there are limited parts for reference. The experience of inserting and picking up cards is very good, with a clear reminding voice and neat. Among the several TF cards tried, the FAT format can be recognized normally. If the TF card has an unrecognized problem, first check whether the card is damaged, and then try formatting.

Bluetooth connectivity

As a Bluetooth device, compatibility and stability are equally important. Although the product mentioned in the promotion that it supports APTX, there is no display interface with APTX certification when paired with ASUS Zenfone ZOOM that supports APTX. It can only be inferred that the TV speakers did not participate in the certification.

When a mobile phone or tablet and other devices are connected to the TV Bluetooth, the audio mode will automatically start, and the five second countdown screen will automatically turn off to enter the power saving state, which is a humanized function design.

A batch of electronic devices were selected for Bluetooth pairing attempt, and there was no problem in connection.

It is a good experience to connect the handle to the TV and play games. I am used to seeing the small screen of the mobile phone (although it is 5.5 inches), and then I feel shocked when watching the big TV.

Wireless screen projection

Both physical and software screen projection are supported on wireless screen projection. You can choose your preferred method according to your mobile phone. The Kukai 50A2 supports DLNA, Airplay, Miracast, AirMirror and several common projection protocol modes. Android phones of mainstream brands can be directly connected for use, such as ASUS Playto, Samsung's screen sharing function, etc. iPad, iPhone and other products need not be mentioned. Such TVs are basically supported by default.

Before use, please note that entering Miracast is only used to connect Android phones, tablets, laptops and other devices, while Airplay mode can be found by iPhone or iPad as long as the TV is turned on. This is the difference. However, after connecting to the TV through Airplay, the voice is extremely sharp and cannot be heard normally, whether it is songs, videos or games.

Smart family

The reason why this is listed separately is that smart home has become more and more popular, and some common products such as smart refrigerators, smart air conditioners, smart bulbs, smart cameras and smart patch panels have increasingly entered users' homes. However, the linkage between different brands is a problem that needs to be solved urgently, so a hub that connects other equipment and controls it becomes more important. After all, not every family will directly use the same smart products or the whole set of smart home solutions.

In addition to connecting and setting other devices, the integrated smart home application of Kukai 50A2 can also be used to purchase smart hardware and corresponding APP. However, at present, the supported product categories and brands are limited, with only a few specific products. It is expected that more mainstream products and brands will be added in the market in the early days.

At present, only the air conditioner, purifier, camera and smart light are limited to support products. None of my smart devices can be bound, because there is a button referring to "Internet of Things" in the connection process. From the QQ Internet of Things mentioned in QQ video, it is estimated that products that also support QQ Internet of Things can be used with TV, which has great limitations. Most intelligent products involve remote control, so hardware binding is carried out under WiFi connection.

The air conditioner has Kelon and Midea, but because there is no supported infrared transmitter, it cannot be tried. However, several smart hardware on hand are not listed in the support list, so they cannot be set successfully.

Audio experience

This part of the experience includes two parts, one is pure music audio-visual, the other is to listen to movies with excellent sound effects such as Gravity. The two listening modes are switched to music and film modes, and the effect will be improved compared with the standard mode after the mode switch.

As the speaker of JBL A-class Super Bass, it uses eight speakers, and supports Dolby and surround sound effects, which makes people look forward to it. However, the rear design of the two speakers is somewhat unaccustomed, which will affect the sound effect.

Due to the limited level of personal appreciation, everyone's preference and understanding of music are biased. At the same time, limited by the limitations of written expression, they only use their own direct language to explain their personal feelings. The songs are mainly high quality songs such as WAV and flac.

Taking "High Mountains and Flowing Water" as an example, there is a sense of substitution on the spot. The sound of the zither is far away, mellow and soft, and the switch between high and low sounds is natural and smooth. But if you listen carefully, you will feel slightly depressed and slightly bored by the high sounds.
