Although the price difference between the full Netcom version of Hongmi Note3 and the youth version of Huawei G9 is huge (from 999 yuan to 1599 yuan), they are both Xiaomi and Huawei's sub flagship products, and there may be many users meeting I was interested in their photography level, so I made a special comparison.

Hongmi Note3 All Netcom uses Samsung's 16 megapixel S5K3P3 sensor, and G9 Youth Edition is the old flagship classic 13 megapixel Sony IMX214. After all, they are all midrange products, so they do not add extreme low light scenes.

The S6 edge is used as a standard sample to "look around". Its film style is to simulate as close as possible to the naked eye. The white balance and light metering are very close to the real scene (the color will be slightly warmer).


Photo experience

  • Automation level: many flagship computers are equipped with the automatic triggering function of HDR and night view mode as standard, while the night view mode of G9 Youth Edition is automatically triggered, HDR needs to be manually started, and these two modes of Hongmi Note3 need to be manually started;

  • Focusing speed and success rate: the pre focusing speed is close, and there will be obvious "wind box" process in focusing in many scenes, but relatively speaking, the red rice Note3 with phase focusing will be slightly faster;

  • Shutter response and film forming speed: The shutter response of Hongmi Note3 is much higher than that of G9 Youth Edition, which will block the picture for a few seconds after pressing the shutter, but the film forming speed of HDR and night view mode of G9 Youth Edition is much faster than that of the former;

  • Film forming rate: the performance in the daytime is close, and the film forming rate is very high, but there is no optical anti shake, and the probability of film destruction by hand under weak light is relatively high.

Xiaomi hasn't made much effort on the photography software. The metering of Hongmi Note3 All Netcom tends to be dark, and there will be obvious underexposure in weak light. The white balance can only be described as erratic. The overall trend of green and blue is very obvious. Some light scenes will turn red, which has always been the most special step of the color of the proof. In addition, under weak light, red rice Note3 will have obvious color saturation and contrast reduction problems.

The metering and white balance of G9 Youth Edition are unexpectedly accurate, close to S6 edge, and can also ensure the brightness of the image in weak light. The machine has the trace of adjusting the contrast and saturation. At first glance, the picture will feel more transparent than the products of the same level (of course, there is still a certain gap with the flagship), but the dark details are sacrificed, and it is easy to become black (after manual operation, you can see that the dark parts actually have details).

The red rice Note3 is obviously more domineering in the sample size, which is a big circle larger than the G9 youth version.

In terms of wide angle/focal length, G9 Youth Edition is 27mm wide angle and S6 edge is 28mm wide angle. The software data of Hongmi Note3 is wrong and cannot be read to confirm the value. However, the wide angle of the sample is obviously the largest of the three, and the field of vision is also a bit larger than that of G9 Youth Edition. After photographing the same object and scaling up, the size of the target is not much larger than the low pixel G9 youth version. It can be expected that its analytical power will not be much better than the former.

Wide angle and optical anti shake have higher requirements for lens quality. Generally, due to the cost problem, the edge degradation of such machines will be more obvious. but The wide angle red rice Note3 and S6 edge with optical anti shake maintain good edge sharpness, The edge of G9 Youth Edition is much worse.

Although some of the pixel advantages have been flattened by the wide-angle lens, Hongmi Note3 All Netcom has an obvious sharpening algorithm (white edges appear around some dark lines). The daytime discrimination is undoubtedly better than Huawei G9 Youth Edition, but there will be some "algorithm purple edges" on the edges of objects. When the light is weak to a level similar to that of coffee shops and street lights at night, the red rice Note3 will suffer a sharp decline in detail and sharpness due to its powerful noise reduction smearing.

Huawei's G9 Youth Edition is the opposite of the Red Rice Note3. It has less sharpening and low resolution in the daytime. The weak light, noise reduction and smearing are not obvious. The resolution remains intact, but the noise is moving.

Hongmi Note3 All Netcom is still Xiaomi's conventional camera mode: "The hardware is good, but the algorithm is worrying". The quality of the lens is good, and the discrimination of most scenes is good, but the white balance of the software is floating out of the sky, and the weak light performance is poor.

The youth version of Huawei G9 uses the old flagship sensor, which is mature in tuning, but with low pixels and average lens quality. The accuracy of white balance and photometry is not inferior even if it is placed in the previous generation of domestic flagship, with saturation and contrast gain. The style of the proof is flattering, but the details are ordinary.
