On September 2, Samsung announced the launch of two new mobile image sensors, including ISOCELL HP1 with 200 million pixels and ISOCELL GN5 with 50 million pixels.

ISOCELL HP1 is the first 200 million pixel (16384 × 12288) image sensor in the industry. It has a 1/1.22 inch base, a single pixel size of 0.64 μ m, a new ChameleonCell pixel consolidation technology, and supports 16 in 1 (equivalent to 12.5 million pixels, single pixel of 2.56 μ m), 4 in 1 (equivalent to 50 million pixels, single pixel of 1.28 μ m) and full pixel output, Up to 8K 30fps or 4K 120fps video recording is supported.

The ISOCELL GN5 sensor with 50 million pixels has a size of 1/1.57 inch and a single pixel size of 1 μ m. The four in one output is equivalent to 12.5 million pixels. It supports Dual Pixel Pro omnidirectional auto focusing technology, and has 1 million phase detection multi-directional photodiodes built in, which can focus faster under low light; Up to 8K 30fps or 4K 120fps video recording is supported. From the perspective of specifications, GN5 is not an iterative product of flagship sensors such as GN1 and GN2, but rather close to the mid end product benchmarking Sony IMX766.

Samsung official said that ISOCELL HP1 and GN5 have sent samples to customers. It is expected that from the end of the year, we will see the release of the terminal models equipped with these two sensors.
