2GHz UHF new Nexus 7 brush machine test
2GHz UHF new Nexus 7 brush machine test

It was launched at the end of July, and after more than half a month of development, there have been many third-party ROMs for the new Nexus 7. In addition to adding functions, some third-party cores can greatly improve the performance of the whole machine.

The following test is the ROM named "ParanoidAndroid", version 2.94. The ROM is flushed through the third-party Recovery. The process will not be described in detail here.

The overall style of this ROM tends to be native ▼

Some personalized settings ▼ for title bar and lock screen have also been added

The biggest feature is that there is a "Hybrid properties" in the settings. After entering the settings, you can change the set DPI value and change the UI layout of the tablet. There are five UI layouts ▼: Nexus 7 native UI, recommended UI, tablet UI (divided into 480DPI and 320DPI), and Phablet UI

The "Three King Kong" virtual key of the panel UI is set at the lower left corner, and the lower right corner displays signals, power, notifications, etc. ▼

The system informs you to call up the menu ▼ from the lower right corner

The "native UI" here has actually been modified by adding the PIE virtual key and calling ▼ through the screen edge

The recommended UI is more like the built-in UI of Nexus 7, with title bar and virtual key ▼

In addition to third-party ROMs, third-party kernels can also significantly improve the playability of Nexus series. For the Nexus 7, the default frequency is relatively low. The CPU is only 1.5GHz, while the GPU is 400MHz. Here is a kernel named ElementalX, version 0.7 ▼

After this kernel is applied, the CPU can be overclocked to more than 2GHz, and the GPU can be overclocked to 487MHz ▼

After the machine was flushed, the score was run. It can be seen that it is obviously higher than the default situation, but it has not met our expectations. This is due to CPU frequency reduction ▼

After the third-party ROM is flashed in, a "Halo" function is added. After using this function, a circle will appear on the left edge of the screen, where you can see the system notification and display the content of the notification through the floating window. The floating window ▼ of the screen capture is in the middle of the following screenshot
