AMD R7 5700U Appears in the Database: Upgrade 8-core 16 threads+increase frequency

On November 13, it was reported that the mobile version of AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors, originally expected to be released next year, had already appeared in the GeekBench database. The database shows that the AMD R7 5700U has leapfrogged to 8 core 16 threads, and the maximum frequency of CPU and GPU is higher than the R7 4800U in service.

R7 5700U GPU information

The name of the testing machine is "HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eh1xxx". It can be seen that the AMD R7 5700U is an 8-core 16 thread, and the Codename is still Renoir (it seems that Zen3 is not available, and it is sad). The default frequency is 1.8GHz, and the highest dominant frequency is 4.34GHz. GPU with 8 computing units, the highest frequency is 1.9GHz. As a comparison:

  • Its direct predecessor, the R7 4700U, is an 8-core 8-thread, with a default frequency of 2.0GHz and a maximum of 4.18GHz. The GPU is 7 computing units with a maximum of 1.6GHz.

  • The previous generation of the R7 4800U, a higher level, is 8-core 16 thread, with a default frequency of 1.8GHz and a maximum of 4.29GHz. The GPU is 8 computing units with a maximum of 1.75GHz.

The actual information is consistent with the previous disclosure that the R7 5700U does not use the newly released Zen 3 architecture. It is only the overclocking version of the R7 4800U, and the R7 5800U has a new architecture. GeekBench's test results also show that there is not much difference between R7 5700U and R7 4800U. Of course, because GeekBench on the PC platform does not exert enough pressure on the CPU, and the difference in cooling conditions between devices is too large, its score running credibility is not high. After all, even the score difference of R7 4700U is not big.

Although the R7 5700U is suspected of squeezing toothpaste, it should maintain the price range close to the current R7 4700U. But I don't know whether the R7 5800U will be monopolized by Lenovo for so long as the R7 4800U.
