Qualcomm Releases Snapdragon 678: Snapdragon 675 Ultra Frequency Edition
2021-12-16 11:08

On December 16, it was reported that Qualcomm launched a mid-range 4G SoC platform last night - Snapdragon 678. It is reported that this SoC is the successor of Snapdragon 675.

Snapdragon 678 adopts the 11nm LPP process. Its two Kryo 460 CPU cores are based on the Cortex-A76 architecture. The main frequency is slightly increased from 2.0GHz of 675 to 2.2GHz, and there are six 1.7GHz A55 cores. The GPU is integrated with Adreno 612 (the frequency may be increased), which supports the FHD+60Hz refresh rate screen at most; Spectra 250L ISP supports shooting 192 million pixel photos or 4K 30fps videos; The memory supports up to 8GB LPDDR4X 1866MHz.

Snapdragon 678 integrates 4G X12 LTE modem, with a maximum downlink rate of 600Mbps and uplink rate of 150Mbps. It supports WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 protocols.

On the whole, even compared with the previous generation of Snapdragon 675, this Snapdragon 678 has a very limited increase, which is basically the 675 overclocking version, which can be said to be another toothpaste squeezing model of Qualcomm in the second half of the year, and 4G SoC is now difficult to find a market in China.

At present, Qualcomm's next generation mid tier Snapdragon 700 series platform, which is more concerned, has not been released. If there is no significant improvement compared with 765G, the market share taken away by MediaTek and Samsung may only be more than this year.
