On March 1, MediaTek officially released its flagship SoC Tianji 8000 and Tianji 8100, both focusing on energy efficiency ratio. From the perspective of parameter specifications, the two 5nm chips are clearly targeted at Qualcomm's Snapdragon 870 and 888.
Tianji 8000 uses TSMC 5nm process:
The CPU part is a 4x2.75GHz A78+4x2.0GHz A55, 4MB L3 cache;
It supports up to 6400Mbps of LPDDR5 memory;
GPU is the Mali-G610 with 6 cores;
APU is a dual performance core+1 universal core;
1080P+screen up to 168Hz;
Three 14bit ISPs, up to 5 billion pixels per second. It can take dual shots in parallel and support triple exposure, with a maximum of 3200W+3200W+1600W camera;
In terms of network, there are R16 5G, dual carrier peak downlink 4.7Gbps, and the main focus is still energy efficiency ratio;
It supports 2x2 Wi Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
The Tianji 8100 can be understood as the overclocking version of the Tianji 8000. The CPU core is 0.1GHz (2.85GHz) higher, the APU performance core frequency is 25% higher, and the GPU frequency is 20% higher. It can support up to 2K+120Hz screens.
Power consumption control was emphasized throughout the press conference:
CPU was tested in GeekBench 5 multi-core system, which was 12% higher than competitors at the same level, and its energy efficiency ratio was 44% higher;
GPU's scene in GFXBench Manhattan 3.0 is 4% higher than competing products at the same level, and its energy efficiency is 35% higher;
AI performance is 39% higher and energy efficiency is 72% higher;
The power consumption of eating chicken at 90 frames is 24% lower than that of friends, and the temperature is 3 degrees lower.
Although MediaTek did not name names, the rate of peer competitors on PPT is probably 888 Snapdragon. After all, even TSMC 5nm is unlikely to leave behind Snapdragon 870 in terms of energy efficiency ratio.
The official did not release detailed CPU architecture information for the time being, but the 2.85GHz core of the "4+4" architecture was marked. Previously, the Tianji 1100/1200 was actually a "1+3+4" structure. Even if it was on the same frequency, the super core would have a larger cache and stronger performance. Since MediaTek has not made any special distinction before, it is still unclear whether Tianji 8000/8100 will have a super core this time.

Kirin 9000 is TSMC's 5nm, 3.13GHz A77 super core+3x2.54GHz A77 super core+2.05GHz A55, GPU is Mali-G78 MP24;
Snapdragon 870 is a TSMC 7nm (N7P) process, with a 3.2GHz A77 like super core+a 3x2.42GHz A77 like super core+a 1.8GHz A55670MHz like Adreno 650 (Snapdragon 865 is a 2.84GHz super core);
The single core performance of Tianji 8000/8100 is unlikely to win the two predecessors above, but the frequency of four large cores is not low, and the multi-core performance should be considerable. The main energy efficiency ratio is reasonable. After all, the highest frequency is 2.85GHz, and the manufacturing process is one generation ahead of Qualcomm (strictly speaking, TSMC 5nm is one or two generations ahead of Samsung 5nm...).
Before that, there had been 8100 points of Angel Rabbit, with a total score of 820000. The total score/GPU score was close to that of Snapdragon 888, and the CPU was close to that of Snapdragon 870.
According to the naming rules of ARM, Mali-G710 starts with 7 cores, ends with 16 cores, and G610 has 6 or less cores. It is known that Tianji 9000 is a 10 core Mali-G710 MP10 with a frequency of 850MHz. The difference between the flagship GPUs of Qualcomm and MediaTek in 2021 and 2022 is about 40% to 50%. It is estimated that the GPU frequency of Tianji 8100 is also about 850MHz.
The media communication meeting is not over yet, Redmi、OPPO、 As soon as Jiahe and Zhenwo released the posters of Tianji 8000 series, Fage has a good reputation this year. Except OPPO K10 series, all others are written as Tianji 8100.
Tianji 9000 is benchmarking against Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (the energy efficiency ratio is too poor, so I'm sorry to call it benchmarking now), Tianji 8100 is benchmarking against Snapdragon 888, and Tianji 8000 is benchmarking against Snapdragon 870. Exactly hit. This year, MediaTek has really turned over, Fage Yes! TSMC Yes!
