On October 3, it was reported that Guo Mingxuan, a securities analyst at Tianfeng International, recently published an investment report on iPad.
According to the report, mini LED will become the key display technology of iPad in 2021 to 2023, and the 11 inch iPad Pro equipped with mini LED screen will become the marketing focus of Apple's iPad product line in 2022.
However, it is believed that the iPad Air model with OLED screen, which has been rumored before, has been cancelled by Apple and is expected to continue to use TFT-LCD screen. Guo Mingxuan said in his report that this is mainly due to two reasons: first, OLED, as a high-end display technology in the mobile phone and TV markets, may conflict with the positioning of the 11 inch mini LED iPad Pro if it is applied to iPad Air; second, the original iPad AirThe performance and cost of the LTPS OLED panel to be used cannot meet Apple's requirements.
The report also estimated that next year Apple's shipment of devices equipped with mini LED screens will increase from 5.5 million to 6.5 million to 13 million to 15 million.
It seems that Apple's current route choice in display technology has been relatively clear. Small screen devices such as mobile phones have all adopted OLED panels, while large screen devices such as iPad Pro and most future MacBooks are fully betting on mini LEDs.
