MediaTek of MediaTek held a technical media communication meeting on October 20, which can be understood as the technical warm-up of Tianji 2000. In terms of 5G, MediaTek M80 5G baseband has actually been released in February this year. This conference announced more performance details. The standards it supports are upgraded from R15 to R16 (full name is Release 16, the second version of 3GPP 5G standard). From dual carrier to multi carrier convergence, the peak value is 7Gbps, and the weak field growth rate is three times. In terms of AI, the main uses now are actually photography, video recording, display and game optimization. In the photographic scene, it includes AI face detection, object tracking, noise reduction, depth of field, AI shutter/white balance and other applications. The goal of MediaTek's next generation APU (AI processor) is to be compatible with more frameworks, improve the energy efficiency ratio and enhance the synergy between processors. MediaTek said that "effective AI performance per watt" is a key indicator of long-term stable experience more critical than "peak AI computing power".

 

In terms of games, it revealed the next year's game engine HyperEngine 5.0 (including scheduling, network, control and image quality optimization). MediaTek predicted that mobile games would move closer to the level of desktop games, with the trend of high frame rate, global illumination, super division, etc. Previously, it had provided a Vulkan based mobile ray tracing SDK solution that was compatible with the industry graphics standards defined by Khronos, Convenient for PC transplantation.


 

The open architecture is the continuation of the customized version of Tianji 1200 made by Lian Fake and Yijia, Xiaomi, vivo, realme and other mobile phone manufacturers this year. At that time, the derivatives included Tianji 1200-AI, Tianji 1200-Ultra, Tianji 1200 vivo and so on. The customized display of MediaTek mainly focuses on the software, rather than the customized hardware solution provided by Samsung like Google Pixel 6 series (crazy setting of dual 2.8GHz X1).
