Vivo released the first independently developed video chip Vivo V1 at the sharing meeting held on September 6. The chip claims to have been developed for two years, mainly for photographing and video recording.
Vivo has made customized HiFi chips before (now it is mainly used by its own flagship), and customized DSP and HDR on vivo X9 Plus. This time, the vivo X1 is claimed to be a Vivo led research and development project, which took 24 months and invested 300 people in the image chip team.
In terms of hardware, Vivo didn't disclose much, but only mentioned that the Vivo V1 integrated the equivalent 32MB on-chip cache, which is actually located between the main chip and the display panel, and can be used with different screens and chips. V1 is interconnected with ISP, which is used to expand the computing power of ISP and serve for taking photos and videos.

Vivo claims that the power consumption of V1 is 50% lower than that of the software solution when running the camera algorithm. In weak light recording, V1 can achieve real-time MEMC motion compensation and noise reduction of 1080P 60 frames under the condition of low power consumption, and can cooperate with the main ISP to do secondary lighting and secondary noise reduction.
In addition to vivo V1, the sharing meeting also mentioned the use of complex coating, pigment spin coating process (glare and petal ghost at street lights and other highlights) and Zeiss optical lens with glass lenses, such as SWC (ghost reduction), ALD (X60 Pro+is already in use, and the reflectivity is reduced to 0.25%). The simple understanding is that the lens has higher light transmittance, stronger thermal stability, lower dispersion, and better glare and ghost control.
In terms of algorithm, it can be basically understood as the algorithm of vivo X70 series to be released soon. It mentioned the natural color of ZEISS with 15.5% improvement in hue accuracy and the portrait virtualization function of restoring ZEISS Biotar lens style, the 10bit Log video recording mode, and the SuperRAW format with 14bit depth and up to 10 frame composition.
According to previous rumors, this V1 may also be used for game frame patching like the Pixelworks chip on iQOO before. However, the official did not provide detailed information, and we still had to wait for the vivo X70 series press conference. Finally, we had to offer the famous saying of Ang Lee: I can't understand it, but I was shocked.
