On August 10, it was reported that Samsung recently released a new SoC, Exynos W920, for wearable devices such as smart watches.

The Exynos W920 is built with Samsung's latest 5nm EUV process technology. It integrates two Cortex A55 CPU cores with the highest frequency of 1.18GHz. The GPU uses Mali-G68 MP2. It also integrates the Cortex M55 coprocessor to maintain low-power task processing in the silent screen state. Officially, Exynos W920's CPU performance is 20% higher than that of Exynos 9110, the previous generation platform released three years ago, and GPU graphics performance is up to 10 times higher.

Exynos W920 supports the display screen with the highest resolution of qHD (960 × 540), integrated LTE modem, 4G LTE Cat. 4, WiFi 802.11n, and GNSS L1.

It is reported that the Exynos W920 also uses FO-PLP and SiP ePoP packaging technology to integrate the Exynos W920, power management IC, LPDDR4 memory and eMMC flash memory in the same package. This compact design is conducive to freeing more internal space for smart watches to place batteries or other components.

Samsung officially said that the Exynos W920 supports the new unified wearable platform jointly built by Samsung and Google, which will be first applied to the upcoming Galaxy Watch model, which is expected to be officially released on August 11.
