MediaTek Helio G88/G96 released: enhanced high screen support

On July 16, it was reported that MediaTek recently launched two new 4G SoCs, Helio G88 and Helio G96.

The two SoCs, like the previous G series, still use the TSMC 12nm process. In terms of specifications, Helio G88 integrates two 2.0GHz A75 large cores and six A55 small cores. The Mali-G52 MC2 with 1GHz GPU supports LPDDR4x memory and emmc 5.1 flash memory, displays with the highest FHD+and 90Hz refresh rates, cameras support up to 64 million pixel sensors, 4G LTE supports Cat 7 rate, WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0.

Helio G96 integrates two 2.05GHz A75 cores and six A55 cores, The GPU is Mali-G57 MC2 (the specification is lower than the G95 of Mali-G76 MC4), supports LPDDR4x memory and UFS 2.2 flash memory, 4G LTE speed can reach Cat 13 level, supports WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2, the screen specification can support FHD+, 120Hz refresh rate at most, the camera can support up to 108 million pixel sensor, and can record 4K 30fps video.

Since the focus of MediaTek's mobile phone chip business has already shifted to the 5G Tianji series, the G series 4G chips released in the past two years can be said to be a toothpaste driven upgrade. These two G-series SoCs are expected to be provided to low-end 4G models at home and abroad.
