This is a photo comparison in special mode. The participating mobile phones include Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Xiaomi 11 Ultra, One Plus 9 Pro iPhone 12 Pro Max。 The test is mainly to supplement the comparison and analysis of "main focus section cutting, hybrid zoom, manual and automatic super night scene" that is not mentioned in the usual space.
Since the firmware of Xiaomi 11 Ultra is unstable, it cannot represent the actual performance of GN2. To make a conclusion, wait until the beta OTA firmware of Xiaomi 11 Ultra comes out in April.
I won't say much about the specifications. The strongest one is definitely Xiaomi 11 Ultra, followed by Mate 40 Pro and One Plus 9 Pro. Although the iPhone 12 Pro Max finally upgraded the 1.4 μ m family heirloom camera (1/2.55 '') to 1.7 μ m (but still less than 1/1.7 ''), the main and auxiliary camera specifications are still very backward in the flagship (high EQ: hardware is tight, but the algorithm is good).
Huawei's ultra wide-angle 1/1.54 inch 3:2 sensor is compared with the 1/1.56 inch IMX766 of OnePlus/OPPO. Due to different proportions, the area of the latter is 1.33% larger.
Special test
The edge image quality of Mate 40 Pro under different "focal lengths" is compared, and the right edge is magnified (the edge degradation is actually well controlled under the original state of 23 mm main photography)
Mate 40 Pro edge image quality contrast under different "focal lengths", the lower left corner edge is enlarged
Mate 40 Pro edge image quality contrast under different "focal lengths", the lower right corner edge is enlarged
Huawei Mate 40 Pro is very special. Here are some additional instructions/tests. Its main focus is 23mm physical equivalent focal length (it is regarded as 0.8x zoom in the system), but the camera takes 27mm as one time focal length by default (it needs digital cutting). Its ultra wide angle (18mm, 0.7x) can also be zoomed to 23mm (0.8x) through digital cutting. When manually operating the 0.8x (23mm) zoom, a slight carelessness will trigger the 0.8x cutting of ultra wide angle, rather than the 0.8x of the main camera (really awkward).
It is estimated that the reason for Huawei's operation is not to control the edge degradation (the edge degradation is completely acceptable under the 23mm equivalent focal length of the main camera), but to make the ultra wide angle of the ultra small field of vision look less awkward.
Just imagine: if the main camera is turned on by default to 23mm (0.8x zoom), the user switches to only 0.7 times the ultra wide angle, and the field of vision is only slightly increased, the problem of insufficient ultra wide angle field of vision will become more prominent, which is really "a lonely ultra wide angle".

Huawei's super night view mode also encountered the same dilemma as Xiaomi's "night owl algorithm". For the main camera of Huawei Mate 40 Pro, it is unnecessary to open the night view mode (slow shutter starting in 8 seconds, low film rate, and side effects of picture brightness and details).
It is necessary to open the super wide angle night view mode. Although the sharpness of details will also decrease, the brightness of the picture will increase significantly, which is not bad.

The "Nightowl Algorithm" of Xiaomi 11 Ultra manual night scene mode has the shortest waiting time among several sets, which is close to the automatic night scene mode. It has a good experience, and can greatly improve the dark details in extremely low light scenes. But it is puzzling that since the experience is close, the automatic mode directly calls the algorithm of the manual night view mode?
However, the Xiaomi 11 Ultra ultra wide angle is now only "UI night view mode", and the algorithm seems not to have taken effect at all. In addition to cutting a few pixels, the actual image is no different. It's lonely.

The night view mode effect of One Plus 9 Pro is the most obvious among several sets. The subjective discrimination is good, but the noise is fierce. However, the ultra wide angle automatic mode is obviously weak, and even cannot be separated from the IMX586 automatic mode of Xiaomi 11 Ultra.
3.3x zoom contrast
3.3x zoom 1
3.3x zoom 1, upper center zoom
3.3x zoom 1, zoom in at the top right (this position is the fusion boundary of Mate 40 Pro hybrid zoom, and the left is clearly clearer than the right)
3.3x zoom 2
3.3x zoom 2, central zoom (Huawei calls 5x long zoom for hybrid zoom)
3.3x zoom 3
3.3x zoom 3, central amplification (Huawei does not trigger hybrid zoom here)
3.3x zoom 4
3.3x zoom 4, central magnification (watching Xiaomi cut with the camera throughout, I feel sad)
3.3x zoom 5
3.3x zoom 5, central magnification
3.3x zoom 6
3.3x zoom 6, central magnification (for light scenes, the 3.3x performance of this one decreases significantly)
3.3x zoom 7
3.3x zoom 7, central magnification
Normal photograph contrast will not be deliberately adjusted to 3.3x zoom. This part was originally an entertainment test, and the results
For the Xiaomi 11 Ultra and Huawei Mate 40 Pro, there is no 2-3 times telephoto relay. Between 1 and 5 times telephoto, they rely on the main camera and hybrid zoom. The central image quality should be stronger, and the overall image quality should be 3.3 times the light change plus better.
However, it is found that the current firmware of Xiaomi 11 Ultra has no hybrid zoom at 3.3 times and can only be independently supported by the main camera. However, the specification of the 3.3x telephoto added is too weak, so it will be surpassed by the 2.5x telephoto of the iPhone in the lighting scene, or even by the Xiaomi 11 Ultra main camera digital cutting.
