The vivo X100 Ultra is the generation of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It is the latest image flagship released on May 13 and launched on May 28.

In terms of configuration, it is the complement version of vivo X100 Pro: Samsung 2K E7 curved screen, converging single point ultrasonic fingerprint, satellite communication, stronger ultra wide angle, the most violent 3.7 times 1/1.4 telephoto on mobile phones, priced from 6499 yuan (12+256 version).

In order to get rid of the name of "machine pigeon", we'd better give X100 Ultra a brief content first.

Vivo X100 Ultra has three colors: titanium color/deep space gray (AG glass) and moonlight white (bright glass). Our machine is titanium color of "machine you titanium beauty", AG glass back cover, silver gray main tone.

The camera decoration ring is really big. It is thick enough to make two layers of scale lines/Paris studs.

The middle frame of aluminum alloy wire drawing pattern creates the feeling of "more use, more moisture" of brushed stainless steel. This texture is better than sunshine lemon tea!

The middle frame has a large depth (not a narrow one), and the top, bottom, left and right sides are cut down with concave treatment, which is quite exquisite.

Now I can give it a name in advance: this is one of Ben Yanzu's favorite middle frame designs in recent years.

Simple experience

Tiantong Satellite Communication ↑

Vivo X100 Ultra peripheral configuration: two-way satellite communication (top configuration) IP69+IP68、USB 3 5Gbps、 Infrared, aluminum alloy middle frame+glass back cover, single point ultrasonic fingerprint of the first engine ceiling, 9595 X-axis motor.

The motor and external amplifier are normal (external amplifier is stronger than X100 Pro), and the system default touch sampling still follows the ancestral 120Hz ↑.

Vivo X100 Ultra is the first to be equipped uniformly Single point ultrasonic fingerprint at the top The log information of the mobile phone is guw5228 (iQOO 12 Pro was a Qualcomm single point ultrasound QFS4008 in the early stage, and a single point ultrasound guw5228 in the later stage).

The iQOO 12 Pro user of Qualcomm Fingerprint said that, The speed and tolerance of the ultrasonic fingerprint of the ceiling is still a little weaker than that of the Qualcomm version The application speed of the top ultrasound fingerprint is between the high pass ultrasound fingerprint and the short focus fingerprint. But this is the first version of Huiding after all, and the future is foreseeable.

The vivo X100 Ultra is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which can be fully opened with 8 cores by cold start. When switching applications, if it is a part of medium and large applications, it can be fully opened with 8 cores. The scheduling is not as active as the X100 Pro of Tianji 9300, but there is little difference in smoothness/response speed.

In terms of system functions, the most obvious improvement in vivo X100 Ultra experience is actually OriginOS 4 has WeChat/QQ/Flying Book/Nailing call recording ! And with intelligent naming and local offline voice to text function! Afraid of OS and color OS shaking, you can remove apps like "Cube Call Recording".

(Endurance test: 200 nit screen brightness, test power range 30% to 80%. Including 30 minutes of "Peace Elite" HDR HD+limit frames+anti aliasing, 30 minutes of 1080P video playback on station B, 30 minutes of short video on microblog, 30 minutes of Wi Fi and 5G surfing, a total of 2.5 hours)

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+5500mAh battery of vivo X100 Ultra has the same remaining power as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra battery of 5300mAh after 2.5 hours of testing. The performance is not as expected, and it is a little different from the X100/X100 Pro of Tianji 9300.

Because of the huge camera matrix, the vivo X100 Ultra has only 80W wired charging+30W wireless charging. Actually compatible with PPA fast charging (about 35W)

The charger and iQOO Z9 Turbo are the same model, both of which are V8073L0A1-CN. The Magic A port is not compatible with PPS/PD, unable to charge the notebook, and not very environmentally friendly.

We can understand that the charging of the Ultra model is lower than that of the standard version because the camera occupies space. However, the specification of the Ultra charger is lower than that of the standard version, which is a bit of a breach.

Without the X100/X100 Pro and X100s/X100s Pro, the C-port 120W GaN fast charging head (the V12060L0A0-CN manufactured by Jinhu OEM), the mother of nature just frowned, but I cried out.

Simple photo comparison

X100 Ultra, a 3.7 times 1/1.4 HP9 telephoto ↑, is nearly twice the size of 1-inch LYT-900. Plus the ultra wide angle, the X100U camera must have more than three 1-inch main camera volumes.

vivo X100 Ultra First launch vivo V3+ Image chip (X100 Pro is V3, X100/X100s is V2), the first BlueImage blueprint image brand+Zeiss co branded. When we test, we use New firmware pushed in the early morning of May 22, 24 (All the earlier samples will be invalidated...).

It is expected that there will be firmware updates before the launch on May 28, so the current comparison is for reference only.

The opponent this time is vivo X100 Pro (Tianji 9300, IMX989 main camera+JN1 ultra wide angle+4.3 times cut to 5000W OV64B. The image part of X100s Pro is the same), iQOO 12 Pro Three times of OV64B will have several guest appearances.

Comparison of main camera, main camera twice and high pixel mode

Focus contrast 1, global and central amplification

Main camera 2x contrast 1 , global and central amplification

(The X100 Pro sample at the bottom left should be "half baked", and none of the 8 samples taken at the same time were spared)

Main camera "High pixel mode" contrast 1 , global and central amplification

Main picture contrast 1, the right edge of the picture is enlarged

Main picture contrast 1, zoom in at high frequency details of the picture

Focus vs. 2x contrast 1, global vs. central magnification

Main camera contrast 2, global and central amplification

Main camera 2x contrast 2 , global and central amplification

3x contrast

At 3x, only the iQOO 12 Pro is the original 3x telephoto output, and the other two are the main cameras.

Unexpectedly, three times of vivo X100 Ultra, and no fusion with focal section ↓

Triple contrast 1, global and central amplification

3x contrast 2, global and central amplification

3x contrast 4, global and central amplification

Ultra Wide Angle vs. High Pixel

Ultra wide angle contrast 1, global and central amplification

Ultra wide angle contrast 1, the left edge of the picture is enlarged

Ultra wide angle contrast 1, high pixel mode, global and central amplification

Ultra wide angle contrast, global and central amplification

Long focus, 10x, high pixel mode contrast

The focal sections of the three cameras are different. For the equivalent 23mm main camera, the iQOO 12 Pro is 3 times, the vivo X100 Pro is 4.3 times (actually, the 50MP in the center of the OV64B is intercepted), and the vivo X100 Ultra is 3.7 times.

For the primary focal section, the longer the focal section, the better the detail (Bullshit), so open the original magnification directly, and the picture details should be: X100 Pro>X100 Ultra>iQOO 12 Pro ↓

Long focus contrast 1, global and central amplification

(Vivo X100 Ultra sharpens more lightly. At first glance, it looks a little blurry, but it retains a little more picture details)

Long focus contrast 1, zoomed in at the top right of the center

Long focus contrast 2, global and central amplification

High pixel mode contrast 2, Global and central amplification (50 megapixel mode of vivo X100 Ultra in the middle and 200 megapixel mode on the right)

The "200 million pixel mode" of the vivo X100 Ultra can almost see the strokes of the words "Dongfanghong".

Long focus contrast 3, global and central amplification

10x contrast 1, global and central amplification

High pixel mode contrast 3 , global and central amplification (50 megapixel mode of vivo X100 Ultra in the middle, 200 megapixel mode on the right)

High pixel mode contrast 4, global and central amplification

After the light weakens, the high pixel mode of the vivo X100 Ultra telephoto seems to be changed to "rocking music+multi frame synthesis". The 50 million pixel mode and the 200 million pixel mode are not very different.

High pixel mode contrast 5, global and central amplification (light continues to weaken, X100 Pro also switches output mode)

10 times contrast 6, global, central, top right zoom in

(Note that the balcony railing ↑, vivo X100 Ultra is the first one. In this scene, it can be confirmed that this is the model of "Roman column railing")

At 10 times, the iQOO 12 Pro looks the most clearly, but it has obvious traces of AI borrowing (see the penultimate air conditioner external unit ↑, the shape has been different from the actual), and noise control is not as good as our two brothers.

The X100 Pro can also see a little AI trace on the balcony railing. On the contrary, the vivo X100 Ultra with a slightly shorter focal length keeps more real picture details by relying on the big bottom and pixel advantages.

High pixel mode contrast 6, global and central amplification (50 million pixel mode of vivo X100 Ultra in the middle, 200 million pixel mode on the right)

If you click to enlarge the drawing, you will find that on the roof at the lower right corner of the picture, the original railing has a vertical bar???? Although the 200 megapixel mode has more noise, it is the first time that a mobile phone has captured this level of detail.

The imaging speed of vivo X100 Ultra is slightly faster than that of X100 Pro, and the high pixel mode is significantly faster. In ultra wide angle and main shooting, there is also a telephoto involved in light metering and other work (because you can occasionally feel the telephoto lens moving like focusing).

  • Ultra wide angle: As the camera angle is significantly increased, the existing firmware is less sharpened, so Even if the sensor becomes larger, the discrimination force between the center and the edge will inevitably decrease (The same 12.5 million pixels for a larger perspective). High EQ: X100 Pro's JN1, polished to the extreme, is so horrible. Unfortunately, the ultra wide angle "heavy pixel light focus" is very suitable for OV64B, but no manufacturer has done so. It's a pity.

  • Main camera: I don't know whether it is the marvelous algorithm of vivo or the contribution of vivo V series image chips, X100 Ultra and X100 Pro, the IMX989/LYT-900 of Tianji 9300 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, The white balance, light metering and details are all adjusted very similarly, which is totally different from two different chip platforms

  • The X100 Ultra is mainly featured by 2x, 3x cropping and high pixel mode, and the highlight/dark part/image edge control will be a little stronger (really a little stronger). In addition, X100 Ultra's photo compression is not so obvious, and the high-frequency texture details in the photos are better preserved.

  • And the core 3.7 times HP9 telephoto With the advantage of big bottom+high pixel, even in the daytime, sometimes it can be "3.7 times dry and 4.3 times dry" (when the same pixel+light is good, the focal section is the core factor determining the details).

  • For the current engineering machine firmware, the chip rate of 10 times mode is low, and the weak light algorithm seems to be incomplete (noise reduction is not in place). X100 Pro and iQOO 12 Pro both have more powerful "AI details" to help, resulting in the "forced five to five" of 10 times in daylight (the Samsung S23 Ultra with 10 times physical telephoto can't win in the daytime).

What surprised me most was the high pixel mode

In the high pixel mode, the 3.7 times HP9 has more noise, but the details of the 200 million pixel mode have reached a higher level, even surpassing the "10 times zoom" of the default mode, and Mao Zedong is ecstatic. People can't help sighing that there are so many details in the rendering engine of Earth online.

The video part of vivo X100 Ultra, I think Most regrettably, there is still a gap between 2 and 3.7 times of focal length.

The original magnification of 3.7 times is still too far (the field of vision is too small). It is good to shoot people, but it should be far away. At a normal distance of 1 or 2 meters, 3.7 times of the equivalent 85mm is used to shoot people, basically all of them are big head shots.

If the next generation is 1/1.56 type to 1/1.4 type 2.5 times telephoto and 5 to 6 times large aperture periscope telephoto, it will be a dead end. I will directly focus on pension, but unfortunately not.
