On February 2, it was reported that today MediaTek announced the launch of its second generation 5G modem M80.
Compared with the first generation product M70, this M80 not only supports the most widely used 5G Sub-6GHz frequency band, but also supports the millimeter wave (mmWave) frequency band, which supports 8-carrier convergence, TDD, FDD carrier convergence and dynamic spectrum sharing.
Officially, the M80 has a maximum downlink rate of 7.67Gbps and an uplink rate of 3.76Gbps. It supports features such as SA/NSA dual mode 5G, dual 5G SIM cards, and dual VoNR. It also strengthens power saving optimization and integrates dynamic bandwidth regulation technology.
Officially, the M80 5G baseband has been tested in accordance with industry standards, and is expected to send samples to customers this year. Perhaps the integrated M80 baseband can be seen on the next generation Tianji 2000 platform.
In addition to M70 and M80, which are mainly used for mobile phones, MediaTek has previously launched T700 5G baseband for PC products, and related products will also be available this year.
