Redmi released the latest Redmi Note series on November 26. As the leader of the series, Redmi Note 9 Pro came out with the latest 100 million pixel sensor Samsung S5KHM2. In this comparison, Xiaomi 10 Pro and Nut R2 are the representatives of the domestic flagship of 100 million pixels, while the Redmi K30 Ultra equipped with IMX682 (64 million pixels) is responsible for running with the same door.
Parameter configuration
The Samsung S5KHM2 carried by Redmi Note 9 Pro is the direct descendant of S5KHM1 (Samsung S20 Ultra and Note20 Ultra). The unit pixel is reduced from 0.8 μ m to 0.7 μ m, but it has dual native ISO. 108 million pixels are also "9 in 1 pixels", and 12 million pixels are output in daily use. The 7P lens with the aperture of F1.75 is qualified, but unfortunately it does not have optical anti shake.
The Samsung S5KHMX equipped with Xiaomi 10 Pro and Nut R2, though both of them are 108 million pixels, defaults to 4-in-1 output with trimming (108MP/4=27MP), and daily output is 25 million pixels. The S5KHMX scheme has the advantages of high pixels and strong discrimination, while the disadvantage is that the weak light effect is not as good as the "9-in-1" effect, with high computing pressure and slow imaging.
The S5KHM2 has a hardware conversion layer, which reduces the processing pressure of ISPs. Except for a few scenes such as the 100 million pixel mode, the actual photo taking experience of Redmi Note 9 Pro is not different from that of ordinary mobile phones.
Someone may ask, "What's the use of a 100 million pixel sensor when it is used as a 12 million pixel sensor?" In fact, the main use of 100 million pixels is to be used as a telephoto lens, except for group photos, landscapes and other scenes that require gross performance (manually open the 100 million pixel mode). Because of its high pixels, Redmi Note 9 Pro can directly omit twice the long focus sub camera like S20 Ultra and Note20 Ultra.
It should be noted that Redmi Note 9 Pro is the flagship and sub flagship this time. Xiaomi 10 Pro and Nut R2 still have optical anti shake S5KHMX. As long as we don't lose sight of it, the 1599 yuan Redmi Note 9 Pro is already successful.
Comparison between subphoto and 100 million pixel mode
Super wide angle sample size comparison
In terms of ultra wide angle, both K30 Ultra and Nut R2 are 12 million pixels, Xiaomi 10 Pro is 20 million pixels, and Redmi Note 9 Pro is 8 million pixels. The actual size difference of the samples is very obvious.
Ultra wide angle proof sheet, central magnification
The 120 degree field of vision of Redmi Note 9 Pro is enough. With a very heavy sharpening algorithm, the analytical power can be compared with the super wide angle of K30U and Nut R2. emmmm,u1s1, Mobile phone manufacturers really don't pay attention to ultra wide angle.
Nut R2 here is a 3x optical zoom, Xiaomi 10 Pro is a 3.7x optical zoom, and K30 Ultra and Redmi Note 9 Pro are both main digital cutting.
However, the 100 million pixel Redmi Note 9 Pro is careless, and the 2x digital zoom may not be adjusted properly, losing to the K30 Ultra (64 million pixels). However, from the 100 million pixel sample below, the ultimate discrimination of the Redmi Note 9 Pro is above the K30 Ultra.
Redmi Note 9 Pro automatic mode vs. 100 million pixel mode
The Xiaomi 10 Pro and K30 Ultra must be in the professional mode to open the 100 million pixel mode and 6400W mode (the white balance, noise reduction and dynamic range of the manual mode will suffer). The Redmi Note 9 Pro, whether professional or automatic, has an imaging style of 100 million pixels and no obvious difference from the actual discrimination. It is the default mode, which is highly available.
High pixel mode contrast
High pixel mode contrast, central amplification
In the 100 million pixel mode of Redmi Note 9 Pro, the picture detail is not as good as that of Xiaomi 10 Pro, but it can be compared with that of Nut R2. For the K30U with 64 million pixels, the noise is somewhat unrestrained, and the pixels are not enough. The floors of the building are painted as "backspace".
Nut R2, automatic comparison with night view mode (night view mode will significantly increase exposure)
Nut R2, automatic contrast with night scene mode, central magnification (the night scene mode of nuts can last up to 5 seconds, the film rate is average, highlight suppression and dark details will be significantly improved)

Redmi K30 Ultra, Automatic and night view mode comparison
Redmi K30 Ultra, Automatic contrast with night view mode, central amplification (highlight suppression performance is better, and sharpening strength is increased)
Redmi Note 9 Pro, Comparison between night scene and automatic mode (obvious dark exposure enhancement and highlight suppression)
Redmi Note 9 Pro, Compared with the automatic mode, the night scene is magnified in the center (at this stage, the firmware night scene mode is not high, and the left scene, 4 samples are all pasted)
Daytime proof sheet
Daytime scene 1 (the white balance of Xiaomi 10 Pro is the most accurate, and the K30U is obviously biased)

Day Scene 2
Daytime scene 2, central zoom in
Xiaomi 10 Pro and Nut R2 are 25 million pixels by default, K30U is 16 million pixels by default, and Redmi Note 9 Pro with 12 million pixels will suffer from poor discrimination. But in the end, it was found that, except for Xiaomi 10 Pro, several machines seemed unable to open the gap.

Summary
According to the current firmware ranking, the Xiaomi 10 Pro is obviously better than the other three machines, followed by Nut R2, K30U and Redmi Note 9 Pro.
Xiaomi 10 Pro: Although he was ridiculed for "wrong direction", and the near object coma was impressive (the edge would be blurred), the camera performance improved significantly after several firmware updates (especially after MIUI 12 was upgraded). It is one of the most suitable mobile phones for the Maoist Party today. Every time you put it together with other mobile phones, you can feel the touch of 25 million pixels of blood. Compared with the nut R2 in the same scheme, the photo experience is obviously better, and the details, contrast and tolerance are better. The main weakness is the focusing performance and low low light rate.
Nut R2: It's a bit like the Xiaomi 10 Pro when it was just released. It hasn't fully digested the 100 million pixel CMOS. There is a gap between the ultimate analytical power and Xiaomi 10 Pro, but it is obviously better than the other two machines. The main weakness is the photographic experience (film speed), and the effect of multi frame synthesis such as HDR and night scene mode is too stiff.
K30 Ultra: The Redmi Note 9 Pro, which is slightly better than the 1200W pixel in discrimination, is a bit noisy, sharp, and generally tolerant. In many cases, it cannot be compared with the 1200W pixel Redmi Note 9 Pro. The main problem is that the white balance tends to be magenta, and most scenes are the ones with the most white balance. The photo taking experience is OK. Although there is no optical anti shake, the film rate is high. Weak light scene and even night scene mode respond quickly (after all, there is no prompt of "image quality optimization, please hold your phone"). In Xiaomi mobile phones, this prompt is a "privilege" only available for the main camera models, while Redmi Note 9 Pro also has this prompt.
Redmi Note 9 Pro: Some said and some did not meet expectations. Although it is 0.7 μ m, it is 1/1.52 inch CMOS after all, and it also has dual native ISO, which is obviously stronger than the IMX682 of K30 Ultra (but I don't know whether it is HM2 or Snapdragon 750G, nor does Redmi Note 9 Pro support it 4K@60FPS The video is really sad). At present, the performance of the firmware of Redmi Note 9 Pro can not be separated from the K30 Ultra, and the dynamic range is OK, but many scenes will lose the power of discrimination, and the film rate of weak light scenes is low. I hope that OTA in the later stage can squeeze out the potential of this CMOS chip.
