From the perspective of quarterly shipments and growth rate in the past two years, there were 1.56 million student tablets shipped in the peak period of 2019, but in the third quarter of 2020 after the epidemic, there were 1.22 million, a decline of 22.1%. In addition, it is worth noting that the shipment of 630000 units in the second quarter of this year was low, but increased by 29.8% year on year. This seems to be a traditional slack season, and the epidemic actually stimulated the shipment of student tablets.
IDC speculates that the main reason for the decline of the domestic student tablet market is that the price of new products of student tablets has risen too high, and ordinary tablets embedded in educational resources have flooded into the student tablet market. On the one hand, the price of high-end student tablets with more than 3600 yuan has increased significantly, while the price of manufacturers that originally focused on less than 1000 yuan has also started to increase to 2000 yuan. On the other hand, ordinary tablets began to access educational resources, breaking the original market situation of high price and low configuration of student tablets and lack of competition.
Before the first quarter of this year, no ordinary tablet manufacturers implanted educational resources, but after the third quarter, 28% of the manufacturers implanted educational resources, taking away the share of the student tablet market. After all, if products such as iPad and Huawei tablet have educational resources, users will not need to buy educational tablets at all.
IDC also calculated the proportion of student tablet market, ranking first step by step, accounting for 38.4% of the market, close to the sum of the second, third, fourth and fifth places (38.6%).
