True · 120W! iQOO 5 Pro、 Xiaomi 10U fast charging comparison+compatibility test
True · 120W! iQOO 5 Pro、 Xiaomi 10U fast charging comparison+compatibility test

IQOO released its new flagship iQOO 5 Pro on August 17. In addition to being the second commercial 120W fast charging mobile phone, it also has Snapdragon 865+120Hz hyperbolic screen+Samsung S5KGN1 sensor, which starts at 4998 yuan. More than half a month after its release, iQOO 5 Pro was finally released. Let's take a look at the 120W, a full "12 Lu" fast charge and its compatibility performance.

Compared with the same vivo X50 Pro+, the iQOO 5 Pro starts at the same price, but the high-end version is 500 yuan cheaper. For the rest, there are mainly 2 times less portrait heads (but in fact, the 2 times head of X50 Pro+can be replaced by the main camera digital zoom in most scenes), more 120W fast charging, added dual speakers and linear motors. In the eyes of many people, iQOO 5 Pro is the real flagship of Blue Factory this year.

Packaging and accessories

The packaging style of iQOO 5 Pro is the same as that of iQOO 5, but it is very powerful, at least twice the weight of ordinary mobile phones. The attached packaging shell becomes a transparent hard shell that only covers the top and bottom, not the side.

The 120W charging, the core selling point of iQOO 5 Pro, comes with a charging head that is notebook level in size and weight.

Charging line

The magic modified type-C charging line of iQOO 5 Pro is still 1.5 meters longer than that of other manufacturers.

The wire material of iQOO 5 Pro is very hard to use. The wire material becomes thicker, and PD pin mapping is done. The length of charging line at port A has set a record, and that at port C is longer than Xiaomi 10 Ultra. Vivo/iQOO makes two more contacts on the outside of port A (the previous 55W FlashCharge has one more contact, pay attention to the opening on port A).

Charging head

Although the charging head of the iQOO 5 Pro supports PD, there is no common PD specification marked on the charging head. The maximum output marked is 20V6A, 120W, followed by vivo's own 11V5A 55W.

The upper row is Xiaomi 10 Ultra (120W), iQOO 5 Pro (120W), iQOO 5 (55W quick charger)

The lower row is Xiaomi 10 Pro (65W), Huawei 40W, and Apple's "five blessings and one safety" super environmental protection and safety quick charging head

Compared with the size of the charging head, the 120W fast charging head of the iQOO 5 Pro is half a circle larger than that of the Xiaomi 10 Ultra, and the size is almost catching up with the 65W head of Apple.

In the first row, the 120W fast charging head of iQOO 5 Pro is about 204.55g; Xiaomi 10 Ultra (120W) fast charging head is about 182.45g

In the second row, the 55W fast charging head of iQOO 5 is about 95.9g; Xiaomi 10 Pro (65W) fast charging head is about 109.88g

In the third row, Huawei's 40W fast charging head is about 85.14; Apple's "five blessings and one safety" super environmental protection and safety quick charger is about 25.87g

Compared with the weight of the charging head, the iQOO 5 Pro's fast charging head has caught up with the weight of the mainstream flagship machine body, and is more than 20g heavier than the Xiaomi 10 Ultra's 120W head, which is very fierce.

compatibility

On iQOO 5 Pro, vivo/iQOO finally supports PD charging. Finally! Finally! Finally! Zha Zhahui: "I have been waiting for five years! Do you know how I have spent these five years?"

The 120W fast charging head of iQOO 5 Pro supports the common BC1.2 DCP, QC 2.0 (5-9V) and PD3.0. The specifications of PD include 3A from 5V to 15V, 3.25A (65W) from 20V, which can charge the notebook compatible with PD charging.

One plus eight, using iQOO 5 Pro official wiring can trigger 5V3A DP, 14W up and down. The common 55W line with iQOO 5 can only be 5V 2A, but the actual value is about 8.9W.

Meizu 17 Pro, with iQOO 5 Pro official wiring, can be 12V 2.5A, 29W up and down. The common 55W line with iQOO 5 can only be 5V 2A, and the actual value is about 9.5W.

Xiaomi 10 Pro uses iQOO 5 Pro official wiring and iQOO 5 ordinary 55W wiring, both 9V 1.3A and 11.4W.

iQOO 5, Using the iQOO 5 Pro official wiring or the iQOO 5 common 55W cable can trigger the highest 9.4V 4.96A, about 46.4W (the original is different).

Vivo X50 Pro+, using iQOO 5 Pro official wiring, iQOO 5 common 55W line, and iQOO previous "pill line", can trigger the highest 9.1V 3.96A, about 36W (one factory, it is different). The Xiaomi 10 Ultra and Huawei 5A charging lines are both 8.67V 2.65A, about 23W.

Finally, iQOO 5 Pro itself:

  • The highest affirmation is the official wiring and head of the iQOO 5 Pro, with the highest voltage of 17.6V 5.8A and more than 102W;

  • The second is to use vivo/iQOO's own 55/44W cable with 120W head, which is around 8.3V 4.9A and 41W;

  • The worst thing is that the 120W head is matched with other manufacturers' wires. Whether it is Xiaomi 10 Ultra or Huawei 5A wire, it is about 8V 2.9A, 23W.

Seeing this shape, we measured the 120W of Xiaomi 10 Ultra:

  • Xiaomi 10 Ultra uses iQOO 5 Pro official head and line, only 9V 1.9A, about 17.4W;

  • The 120W head of iQOO 5 Pro, whether equipped with iQOO 5 Pro or 55W/44W line of iQOO/vivo, is about 9V 1.4A, 12W;

  • The Xiaomi 10 Ultra's 120W head, coupled with the iQOO 5 Pro's 120W cable, can trigger a 16.5V 3A, 50W fast charge.

This comparison shows the difference between iQOO and Xiaomi in fast charging compatibility. The compatibility of iQOO still has a lot of room for improvement, but this time at least there is PD, which is the first step in the long march.

Because the 120W head of the iQOO 5 Pro is port A, theoretically no matter which lighting wire is used, the PD will not be triggered, so the iPhone can be charged up to 5V 2A. In fact, the iPhone 11 is only slightly better than the 5V 1A.

For the 20V PD on the laptop side, whether it is a Xiaomi laptop or a 16 inch Apple MacBook Pro 1TB Bank of China, the 120W head of the iQOO 5 Pro can be about 60W, close to the nominal 65W PD.

0-100% charge test

The iQOO 5 Pro charging curve and stage record can be divided into five stages, each lasting 3-4 minutes:

  • After the iQOO 5 Pro is powered on, it quickly climbs to 98W and then slowly rises to 102W (17.5V 3.89A) for about 3 minutes and 30 seconds

  • Enter the fluctuation period between "65W, 50W, 30W" (17V up and down, but the current steps down) and 102W (about 1 minute and a half), and then charge for 5 minutes and 15 seconds (whether this process occurs or not, mainly depends on the ambient temperature and heat dissipation conditions)

  • The rising period of 66W-70W (17V 3.8A) (about 4 minutes), at which time the charge will take 9 minutes and a half

  • 51.6W-53.4W (18.4V 2.9A) rising period (less than 3 minutes), at this time, charge for 12 minutes and 20 seconds

  • 45W, 37W, 30W, 23W step down period (the whole process is more than 18V, the current drops) (about 4 minutes), at this time, the charging time is 16 minutes and 30 seconds, and the power display is 100%

Then unexpectedly, unexpectedly, the charging was completed directly without the phenomenon of "full UI", and the charging power remained 0.1W (5V). vivo/iQOO is really an honest person, and is completely honest. It seems that iQOO/vivo is full of confidence in the charging head/cable of 6C batteries and violence materials. There is no common trickle charging, and there is no "five blessings and one safety" trickle throughout the whole process.

It should be noted here that the "repeated lateral jump" between 100W in the second stage is not inevitable, which may be closely related to temperature control (charging is also high temperature "frequency reduction"), but regardless of the curve, the final charging time is between 16-18 minutes.

temperature control

The room temperature is 26 ℃, the highest temperature of the body is 35.4 ℃ after 2 minutes, and the highest temperature of the charging head is 40.3 ℃

After 4 minutes, the highest temperature of the fuselage is 38.9 degrees, and the highest temperature of the charging head is 46.1 degrees

After 8 minutes, the highest temperature of the fuselage is 40.3 degrees, and the highest temperature of the charging head is 50.2 degrees

After 10 minutes, the highest temperature of the fuselage is 40.6 degrees, and the highest temperature of the charging head is 53.9 degrees

After 14 minutes, the highest temperature of the fuselage is 39.3 degrees, and the highest temperature of the charging head is 53.6 degrees (step down)

After 17 minutes, the highest temperature of the fuselage is 36.8 degrees, and the highest temperature of the charging head is 49.9 degrees (charging has been completed)

When the iQOO 5 Pro is fast charging, the body temperature is well controlled. The hottest point is the position of the charging port. The highest temperature of the body in the whole process occurs around 10 minutes (65-70W in the third stage of charging), around 40.6 degrees (not high, but still a little hot to the touch because of the metal frame), and then starts to decline.

The charging head climbed from about 4 minutes to 50 degrees, and the peak appeared in about 10 minutes, at 53.9 degrees. The temperature looks high, but it's made of frosted plastic. It actually feels as hot as the mobile phone. The temperature in the charging head is normally low. After all, we are alive at 80 degrees for the multi port GaN fast charging head (due to the heating of the conversion circuit).

120W contrast

Charging curve of Xiaomi 10 Ultra in the same environment. The power display of 100% is 23 minutes. After the "UI is full", there is 13W input, and then it gradually decreases to 4.6W (it takes 8 minutes to trickle, but the voltage is about 10V). The battery is fully charged in 31 minutes. Even if it is "secretly trickling charging", the power is still "0.5 Lu" faster than Apple's "five blessings and one safety".

Minutes of iQOO 5 Pro and Xiaomi 10 Ultra 120W Fast Charge

The iQOO 5 Pro has a longer full life, and the common trickle charging is not visible. It is indeed a gear faster than Xiaomi. However, the charging speed of the two machines is far from that of their peers, and the charging time has been compressed very short. The actual gap is only about 5 minutes.

Although the maintenance time of Xiaomi's 100W level is only 10 seconds, there are not many slots except for the exaggerated degree of "full UI". After all, the battery capacity of iQOO is 500 mAh less, which should be faster than Xiaomi. In addition, iQOO actually maintains high power for a longer time, even without the opportunity of common trickle charging. In addition, iQOO is also very honest. When the UI displays 100%, it is really full.

summary

In terms of 120W fast charging, iQOO 5 Pro is more perfect and has a stronger gear. As for netizens' concern about "whether not trickling down will affect the life span", it is not confirmed for the time being. After all, there is only one 6C cell (Xiaomi is a 5C cell), and it is unknown whether they will be more durable. Xiaomi is a compromise. Reduce the speed and change the capacity, as well as "sneak trickle charging", which is more "health preserving". As far as I think it is more practical and can give more consideration to life, it depends on the usage habits and needs.

On the other hand, the compatibility of iQOO has improved, but it is still not as good as Xiaomi. There is still a long way to go. After all, it is the A-port cable modified by Magic, which is not compatible with other manufacturers. To charge the device PD, it needs to cooperate with the original cable (PD pin mapping is required, even if it is the 55W cable before iQOO, it cannot be connected to PD charging).

The iQOO 5 Pro and Xiaomi 10 Ultra, two 120W fast charging mobile phones, also include a price of "65W PD head", which seems to suddenly become fragrant.
