On August 7, it was reported that Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business, said today at the 2020 Summit of the China Information 100 Association that the Mate 40 series flagship new machine will be released in September this year, and will continue to carry the self-developed Kirin series flagship chip.
However, Yu Chengdong also admitted that due to the second round of sanctions imposed by the United States this year (referring to the power cut of TSMC), the production of Kirin chips will end on September 15, and the chips carried by the Mate 40 series will probably be out of print of Kirin high-end chips.
Yu Chengdong also said that due to the difficulty in the supply of Huawei's mobile phone chips in the second round of sanctions, the mobile phone chips are out of stock, so the overall shipment of Huawei's mobile phones this year is expected to be less than last year's 240 million units.
In the face of the difficulties of blocked chip OEM, Huawei also reported that it would purchase MediaTek chips in a large scale as an alternative. In fact, there are obvious signs. In recent months, MediaTek's Tianji 800 platform has appeared on Huawei's mid-range 5G models for many times, and the purchase of Huawei and other manufacturers has also helped MediaTek's share of SoC chip shipments in the Chinese market in the second quarter of this year to surpass that of Qualcomm.
