Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series have been operated by both Qualcomm and Exynos over the years, with the exception of Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 in 2015. On July 9, the foreign media, ubergizmo, reported that Samsung might no longer use Qualcomm Snapdragon products in the Galaxy S21 next year, but would change to its own Exynos.
The earliest sources were Mauri QHD on Twitter and the netizen @ Bobby25846908. They said that Samsung thought Exynos 1000 would be a better choice. The main reason was that the price of Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 was too high.
At the end of June, it was reported that the price of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 875 chipset next year would be as high as $220-250, while the price of this year's Snapdragon 865 was rumored to be "only" about $150. Looking back to the Xiaolong 845 in those days, even with VAT, it was only 500 yuan. Although Qualcomm has been squeezing toothpaste, it has not stopped its substantial price increase every year.
If the revelations come true, this will be the second time Samsung has used its own Exynos product as its flagship. The Exynos 1000 will also be used in the traditional Qualcomm version fields such as the Bank of China and the US version.
According to previous reports, Samsung will return to the public architecture after the mongoose big core has seriously overturned this year. The Exynos 1000 is expected to have a 5nm process and use the latest A78 architecture. GPU does not know whether it will be Mali-G78 or RDNA cooperating with AMD. But it is certain that Samsung's own chips will be much cheaper than Qualcomm's.
