5G and WiFi 6 can be said to be two essential features of the flagship mobile phone in 2020. However, given the limitations of router, network and terminal support, WiFi 6 is just on the road of popularization. Nevertheless, Qualcomm has been eager to launch a new WiFi 6E product.

What is this WiFi 6E? In brief, WiFi 6E extends WiFi 6 to the 6GHz frequency band in addition to the current common 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi, so as to obtain lower latency and faster network speed, and increase the total spectrum available for WiFi by more than three times.

This time, Qualcomm introduced four Qualcomm Networking Pro series platforms that support WiFi 6E, including Qualcomm Networking Pro 610, 810, 1210, and 1610. They support six, eight, twelve, and sixteen data streams, respectively. The 1610 platform can provide a peak rate of 10.8Gbps, 80% higher than the previous generation flagship 1200 platform.

The above four platforms are mainly designed for routers. In addition, Qualcomm has introduced two subsystems for mobile devices, namely FastConnect 6900/6700, which support WiFi 6E. The FastConnect subsystem will be integrated into the Snapdragon mobile platform in the future, which means that the mobile phone products equipped with the Snapdragon platform will also add support for WiFi 6E.
