On December 26, it was reported that a few days ago, MediaTek held a communication meeting in Beijing, at which Dr. Li Yanji, Associate Manager of the Wireless Communications Business Department of MediaTek, announced that the details of Tianji 800 would be announced early next year. This is a mid tier SoC. The mobile phone equipped with Tianji 800 will be launched in the second quarter of next year. It is characterized by balanced performance and power consumption. Its competitor is Xiaolong 765G.
After the release of Snapdragon 865, people often compare Tianji 1000 with the former. At the communication meeting, Dr. Li Yanji and Nian Yucun, the manager of the product marketing office of the wireless communication business division of MediaTek, combed some technical advantages of Tianji 1000 over Snapdragon 865.

The most obvious thing is that the Tianji 1000 adopts an integration scheme. The M70 5G baseband is built into the SoC, while the Snapdragon 865 needs an external X55 5G baseband to achieve 5G connection. In terms of power consumption control, the Tianji 1000 is better than the Snapdragon 865. "The more high-end mobile phones have more functions, the more precious the cloth plate area is. The integrated baseband can solve the cloth plate area and heating problems". The Tianji 1000 is also integrated with WiFi-6, and its throughput has exceeded 1Gbps for the first time, 1.3 times faster than that of competing products.
In terms of 5G, Tianji 1000 only supports Sub-6GHz band and SA/NSA dual-mode networking, with the maximum downlink speed of 4.7Gbps and the maximum uplink speed of 2.5Gbps. The Snapdragon 865 supports the Sub-6GHz and mmWave frequency bands. Theoretically, the maximum download speed is 5G 7.5Gbps, but domestic operators only have Sub-6GHz. According to MediaTek, the download speed of the Snapdragon 865 in domestic Sub-6GHz is 2.3Gbps, half of that of Tianji 1000.
Officially, the 5G baseband of Tianji 1000 is still the most power saving in the world, and its power consumption is 40% lower than that of competitors of the same kind. This SoC also supports 5G+5G, 5G+4G dual card dual standby, and fully supports N1, N41, N78, and N79 frequency bands.
Tianji 1000 also has an independent AI processor, namely APU 3.0. MediaTek says its AI computing power is 4.5 TOPS, while Snapdragon 865 is equipped with the fifth generation AI Engine, and Qualcomm says its AI computing power is 15 TOPS. It seems that Snapdragon 865 won, but Dr. Li Yanji said that Snapdragon 865 does not have an independent AI core, so when the CPU and GPU load is too high, the effective AI computing power will be affected.
At present, there are two schemes in the market: integration and patching (external baseband). The outside world cares which of these two schemes is the mainstream. Dr. Li Yanji believes that the future integration of SoC is the mainstream. At present, in addition to the Tianji 1000 of MediaTek, HiSilicon's Kirin 990 5G, Samsung Exynos 980, and even Qualcomm's own Snapdragon 765G are all integrated 5G baseband, and the cost of the integration solution is better controlled than the puzzle.
Shortly after the release of Snapdragon 865, its rabbit running score was revealed, reaching 560000 points, while Tianji 1000 was 510000 points. In this regard, Dr. Li Yanji said that the experience of more than 500000 points is almost enough, which is the flagship level, depending on the commercial mobile phones. In the future, if there is demand in the market, MediaTek will consider launching a higher frequency Tianji 1000.
