Love to play computer games On December 13, it was reported that this afternoon, MediaTek will hold a new product launch of Helio P90 in Shenzhen. The highlight of this processor is that it has significantly improved AI performance. Its internal code is MT6779V.
Previously, the Helio P60 and P70 CPUs used Cortex A73. This time, the Helio P90 was finally upgraded to two Cortex A75 cores, with a main frequency of 2.2GHz, and six Cortex A55 efficiency cores. Because Helio P90 is a mid tier processor, it does not use the latest Cortex A76 core. The official said that the next generation of products will use Cortex A76. Helio P90 adopts 12nm process technology and has the latest CorePilot technology of MediaTek. Officially, it can effectively allocate CPU resources to achieve low power consumption.
In terms of GPU, MediaTek finally abandoned Mali and used Imagination's PowerVR GM 9446. The official announced that its graphics performance was 50% higher than Mali-G72 MP3, which was used in Helio P60/70, Samsung Exynos 9610 and other products.
The APU 2.0 frequency responsible for AI operations is 624MHz, and the processing speed is 1127GMACs, which is about one time more than the 614GMACs of Snapdragon 710 and about four times more than Helio P60. MediaTek showed the running points of AI Benchmark on the spot. Helio P90 led the competition with 25645 points, including Snapdragon 855.
With the help of APU 2.0, Helio P90 can meet more AI needs, such as human posture recognition, posture tracking and analysis of human motion, deep learning of face recognition, real-time beautification, object and scene recognition, etc.
In terms of cameras, the new product supports up to 24MP+16MP dual camera or 48MP single camera, 480FPS ultra-high definition slow motion video capture, built-in triple image signal processors (ISPs), which can handle 14 bit RAW and 10 bit YUV. In addition, the ISP-AI engine can improve the imaging effect of mobile phones in low light environments.
In terms of network, Helio P90 supports dual 4G SIM cards, dual VoLTE, Cat-12 (DL)/Cat-13 (UL) LTE. Helio P90 also supports 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM, integrating 2x2 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0.
Mobile phones using Helio P90 will be released in the first quarter of next year. Chen Guanzhou, general manager of MediaTek, said in an interview after releasing Helio P90 that the cost of this chip is three to five times that of Helio P60. In the first quarter of next year, P90 will be applied to mobile phones. The 5G mobile phone equipped with MediaTek chip will be launched in the second half of 2020. He also defined Helio P90 as a new high-end processor.
