ASUS Smart S is one of the few ASUS mobile phones that focuses on self portrait beauty. Although the SoC of Snapdragon 625 doesn't feel like a flagship, its front camera's IMX362 sensor+F/1.8 aperture is really luxurious.

In terms of appearance, ASUS Smart S adopts an all metal integrated body design, which has a strong sense of line and gives people a sense of hardness and toughness, slightly different from its main self portrait beauty. The metal partition strip on the back of ASUS Smart S body used as the antenna adopts injection molding technology, so the whole machine has a strong sense of metal.

The screen configuration of ASUS Smart S can be selected from the settings. The system default is super color. At the same time, it also provides standard mode, blue light filtering eye protection, and custom mode. Super color mode is the normal wide gamut mode of A screen, while the standard mode narrows the gamut to sRGB level.

ASUS Smart S adopts Android 7.1.1 system, and the overall interface is relatively simple, which shows some traces of native Android.
performance
In the part of performance test, I used Nokia 7 (Snapdragon 630), Xiaomi 5X (Snapdragon 625), Moto Z2 Play (Snapdragon 626), 360 mobile phone N6 (Snapdragon 630) to compare with ASUS Smart S (Snapdragon 625). In fact, although Snapdragon 625, 626 and 630 are slightly different, their performance in scoring is different from the theoretical data due to the optimization problems of different systems when they are actually used on each mobile phone.
In terms of CPU performance, the performance of several mobile phones is similar in terms of GeekBench 4 single core or multi-core, RAR single thread, multi thread, etc. In terms of GPU, the Adreno 506 of the Snapdragon 625 and the Snapdragon 626 and the Adreno 508 of the Snapdragon 630 are indeed products that can open the gap. The GFXBench scores of the 360 mobile phones N6 and the Nokia 7 with the Snapdragon 630 are actually higher than those of other models.

In terms of photographing, ASUS Smart S Series maintains the same photographing interface as the previous ASUS Series, supports full manual Pro mode, and supports multiple filters. In front, ASUS Smart S supports a variety of beauty modes, which can adjust skin color, soften skin, big eyes, small faces, whitening, etc., and also supports one click whitening function.
The front camera of ASUS Smart S is an IMX362 sensor with a unit pixel up to 1.4 μ m. It can also ensure the exposure of the front camera in low light environment. Its default one button beauty function has been able to achieve a better beauty effect. It will automatically skin small blemishes such as pockmarks and blackheads on the face, and can also eliminate some dark circles under the eyes. In the case of insufficient ambient light, ASUS Smart S will automatically turn on the front soft light to fill the light, which is very humanized.
In terms of rear camera, although the Asus official did not give the model of the 16 million rear sensor, the Asus official said that this is Sony's light-sensitive component, so it is likely to be Sony IMX298. The post proof of ASUS Smart S is well behaved, the details are analyzed generally, the color is neither too rich nor too dull, the outdoor proof with intense sunlight will not be overexposed or oversaturated, the algorithm is smeared less, and the degree of daylight flooding is low, which belongs to the normal national non optical shake proof level of 16 million pixels.
Endurance
In terms of endurance, ASUS Smart S performs normally and is at the same level as the Xiaomi 5X with similar configuration, while the Hongmi Note 4X has about 1000mAh more battery capacity than the other two, and it has more remaining power in the three hour high intensity endurance test than the other two.

The dividend period of the domestic mobile phone market has long passed. In the context of many flagship competitions, it is politically correct to choose more subdivided functional areas. Although the performance of ASUS mobile phones in China has been tepid, products such as ASUS Smart S that target the beauty market for self portraits may be more popular with users, especially female users, in the current environment.
