On December 6, it was reported that Omdia, a market research organization, recently released a report on the status quo and future development of OLED notebook panel market.
As mentioned in the report, the shipment of notebook OLED screen panels provided by Samsung Display is expected to reach 4.7 million pieces in 2021, with a year-on-year growth of 395%; In 2021, the share of OLED panels in the shipment of all notebook panels in each quarter will therefore increase to about 2%.
This growth is mainly due to the sharp increase in the number of notebook OLED panels shipped by Samsung to its strategic partner ASUS, especially 13.3 and 15.6 inch FHD OLED products. This is also consistent with the situation of the notebook industry that we have observed. Since this year, ASUS has started to promote OLED screens on non game book product lines. In September, seven notebooks, including the Fearless and Lingyao series, were all equipped with OLED screens, which can be said to be one of the few All in OLED notebook manufacturers in the industry.
According to the report, Samsung Display plans to ship 9 million notebook OLED panels in 2022, and plans to launch more 16:10 panels.
