Unpacking and appearance
The blackened MX Board 8.0 package has also become black, with the product model and obvious RGB logo on the lower right corner.

The handle of the weapon box is red, which is much more eye-catching than the black of the white version.
Open the metal box, you can see the keyboard body. The keyboard is wrapped with a transparent protective film. There are sufficient buffer materials in the box, which can protect the keyboard during transportation.
There are no spare parts in the package, just a simple Chinese description.
Taking out the keyboard, we can see that in addition to the overall color matching change, the key cap of the MX Board 8.0 RGB black version is also a side carved design, which has a cold feeling.
There is a silver brand logo on the front panel of the keyboard. The original manufacturer believes that it still needs to recharge. Technically, there are also differences between the white version and the white version. The white version is radium carved on the metal panel, while the black version is a silver patch.
The black version of MX Board 8.0 RGB uses the design of side engraving, and the characters can be transparent. The process of the key cap is "oil injection laser engraving", while the white version is ABS two-color injection molding. There is also a clear difference between the two.

The black version of MX Board 8.0 RGB we got uses the MX RGB red axis, which is not redundant in the feel. It is no different from the general red axis. The white version of MX Board 8.0 we evaluated previously uses the traditional MX red axis.
The biggest feature of MX RGB axis is that the axis body is transparent, which is better than the traditional way of backlighting through lamp beads, and the backlight uniformity will also be better.
The large keys adopt the satellite axis design. Cherry's original satellite axis is believed to be a guarantee in terms of hand feel. The satellite axis is white.
From the side, the height and slope of the key cap conform to the ergonomic design.
The back of the keyboard is also made of all metal materials, and the nameplate on the back is red like the white version.
There is a scroll with an exaggerated diameter on the top of the keyboard, which is used for the support foot at the bottom of the keyboard. The whole structure is well made and has a sense of class.
Through this scroll structure, we can adjust the height of the keyboard "steplessly". The picture shows the maximum height.
The scroll is fully unfolded, but it is the author's habit not to open the scroll and use the default height.
The all metal panel design and pure black color matching make the MX Board 8.0 RGB black version more distinctive than other black versions, and will not appear so popular.
The USB port is made of metal, the interface is not gold-plated, and the data cable has an anti magnetic ring.
Light effect display
As the name implies, the MX Board 8.0 RGB black version certainly supports 16.7 million RGB backlights, and we can switch different light effects by ourselves through shortcut keys and drivers.
Because of the side carved key cap, the shaft body backlight shows through the side of the key cap. Compared with the traditional light transmitting key cap, it will appear less "coquettish", but it also has a different aesthetic feeling.
The brand logo at the space bar is also designed with light transmission.
By switching, we can also make the whole keyboard display monochrome backlight, which is similar to the original MX Board 8.0.

Driving experience
Like Cherry's product style, the driver function of MX Board 8.0 is also very simple. From the interface, we can see that most of the functions are around light effects. Because RGB lights are used, the light effects on the options have added colors and more styles, and the playability has been greatly improved.
The driver also provides the option of customizing the light effect. We can specify the light color and brightness for specific keys to further realize personalized light display.
In addition to rich light settings, the other major function of the whole driver is to have three sets of reconstruction schemes. We can realize single key mapping, macro settings or multimedia functions. In addition, the driver can also set the USB report rate of the keyboard. The driver function can meet the needs of most users, but the problem is that on the high-resolution display, the driver will display incomplete fonts (the above screenshot is from the 4K resolution screen).
