The USB 3.2 standard has been rumored for a long time, but the specific parameters have not been announced yet. Recently, the USB-IF Forum of Universal Serial Bus Implementers officially announced the new USB 3.2 standard. USB-IF said: "As an organization that supports and promotes the adoption of USB technology, we today announced the USB 3.2 specification. This incremental update defines multi-channel operations for the new USB 3.2 host and devices.".
Compared with USB 3.0/3.1, the most significant improvement of USB 3.2 is to support dual channel operation, while the data rate of the physical layer is consistent with the existing standards.
● Support dual channel operation on the existing USB Type-C cable;
● The current SuperSpeed USB physical layer data rate and encoding technology shall be used;
● Small update of hub specifications to improve performance and ensure seamless switching between single/dual channel operations.
In addition, the USB 3.2 standard requires chip support, so existing PC users need to install new standard expansion cards, and the new generation motherboard will soon support the latest USB 3.2 standard. In terms of data cable, the existing USB Type-C data cable can be perfectly compatible, and there is no need to replace a new data cable.
