Catch up with Qualcomm! Samsung 6CA LTE baseband release
Charles Fang 2018-07-31 15:59

Samsung said that this year's Exynos 8895 has integrated Cat.16 LTE baseband (5CA carrier aggregation), and the downlink speed can reach 1Gbps. On July 31, Samsung released the latest LTE baseband, which uses 6CA (carrier aggregation) technology to achieve a maximum download speed of 1.2Gbps, successfully matching the X20 baseband released by Qualcomm in February this year.

With this first Cat.18 baseband using 6CA, you can download a complete set of HD movies in 10 seconds. Carrier aggregation technology improves transmission speed by combining the bandwidth of different frequency bands. Compared with the previous 5CA technology, the new technology can provide more consistent and reliable data transmission. In addition, it also uses 4 × 4 MIMO and 256 QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation).

This baseband is expected to be carried by the next generation Exynos 9810, and will appear on the flagship Galaxy S9/S9+at the beginning of the next year. The Galaxy Note 8 released on August 23 will still be Exynos 8895. In addition, Samsung expects to have two 10nm SoCs, Exynos 7885 and Exynos 9610, this year.
