The rolling level is improved! Snapdragon 660 runs for the first time

On May 8, Qualcomm released the mid tier products Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 630. Qualcomm showed great sincerity. The 14nm process, the semi autonomous Kryo 260 architecture, Adreno 512, and a large number of DSP, baseband and other peripheral components that follow Snapdragon 820 have created the strongest mid tier SoC in history. On May 17, in the famous Running points library GeekBench has a score run that is suspected to be Snapdragon 660. This test machine named Heart uses an 8-core CPU with a small core frequency of 1.84GHz and 3G memory. Its single core score is about 1600 points, and its multi-core score is about 5600 points.

Compared with OPPO R9s Plus using the previous generation of mid end SoC and one plus three using the Snapdragon 820, the Snapdragon 660 shows a significant improvement in the performance of the previous generation, especially the multi-core performance. It naturally rolled the 4-core Snapdragon 820, but the single core performance is not as good as expected.

The reason for this is that Kryo 260 and Kryo 280 on the 835 are probably semi customized based on the A73 architecture, but the large cluster core has only 1M L2 cache, which limits the performance of a single core. In terms of multi-core performance, because of the improvement of the manufacturing process, it can run for a longer time, and the frequency is also quite high.
