The biggest selling point of the machine is its screen, which covers almost the whole front of the machine, and extends to both sides of the screen in the form of curved screen. The two machines are equipped with 5.8 and 6.2 inch curved corner 18.5:9 screens, with a resolution of 2960 × 1440 (Samsung officially calls Quad HD). The PPI of the two machines reaches 570 and 529, respectively. They support and HDR. They have passed the certification of the UHD Alliance and meet the 4K HDR video playback standard. This means that this screen has at least 90% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, a screen brightness range of at least 0.0005-540 nits, and a display bit depth of 10 bits.
The ratio of 18.5:9 not only makes the 5.8 inch screen phone much narrower than expected, but also makes the single hand control better than other large screen phones. In addition, it allows more vertical content to be displayed on the screen, and you can swipe less pages when viewing microblog.
Although the compatibility of third-party software with this screen ratio has not yet been confirmed, with Samsung's appeal, developers are expected to complete the adaptation soon. Home key
At the bottom of the screen, Samsung's traditional physical home key has disappeared. Like many other Android phones, it has become a virtual key, but has added touch feedback similar to the iPhone 3D Touch. The Dex docking station is less effective than expected. It allows the Galaxy S8 to be connected to an external display and keyboard and mouse, and then used like a PC. The best and most special work Bixby does is actually the image recognition of the camera. It can identify the objects in the camera frame, and then search directly. It is a vivid AR reality enhancement. When the camera is looking at flowers, the recognition results can be used to jump to Amazon to buy directly, or to view more pictures of flowers in Pinterest. Ironically, it can't recognize my Android Wear watch... It can also identify the label of wine and the cover of the book, and jump to the shopping website. In the United States, the two machines only have three colors: black, silver and gray (purple), while the international version has gold and blue.
