Recently, Synaptics, a famous foreign fingerprint identification solution provider, officially launched a new optical fingerprint sensor - FS9100.
The sensor can scan fingerprints through 1mm thick glass. The FS9100 was designed to be loaded under the glass at the beginning, even 2.5D glass can be used without opening, making the surface or back of the phone more beautiful.
The traditional optical fingerprint sensor is usually used for personnel identification in places, while the FS9100 is small enough to fit into ordinary mobile devices, and its energy consumption is also very low. Moreover, this sensor can be used for wet hand identification. Under the protection of glass, it is more scratch resistant, waterproof, and does not need to worry about electrostatic discharge.
Samsung, as a partner of Synaptics, believes that Samsung will also adopt the new technology as soon as possible. It is likely that the Galaxy S8 will be equipped with this fingerprint identification sensor next year.
