Jong Shik Yoon, vice president of Samsung Electronics OEM, said that "the first mass production of 10nm FinFET technology in the industry proves that we are in a leading position and will continue to work hard to develop new technologies to provide customers with differentiated overall solutions". At the same time, the new 10nm FinFET technology can reduce the area by 30%, improve the efficiency by 27% and reduce the power consumption by 40% compared with the previous generation 14nm. The current 10nm LPE is Samsung's first generation 10nm process, and the second generation 10nm LPP is expected to start mass production in the second half of the year. SoC mass produced with Samsung's latest 10nm FinFET technology will be launched early next year, and is expected to be popularized on major devices in 2017.
