Seagate Guardian series debuted SkyHawk 10TB monitoring hard disk

In April this year, Seagate released an enterprise level 10TB helium filled hard disk, which was brought to the consumer market in July, collectively referred to as the Guardian series. The series is divided into three sub series: BarraCuda, IronWolf and SkyHawk, which are aimed at three different fields: ordinary desktop computing and storage, NAS network storage, and video surveillance hard disk.

The traditional series of BarraCuda is what ordinary consumers expect most. According to the data on Seagate's official website, BarraCuda also has a 10TB capacity and a 3.5-inch mechanical hard disk. Compared with IronWolf and SkyHawk, BarraCuda has a longer warranty period. The rotational speed of the three sub series HDDs is 7200PRM, and traditional PMR vertical recording storage is adopted.

At the end of August, SkyHawk, the cheapest of the three sub series, made its debut in Guardian series. Recently in Akihabara, Japan, it was sold at 53800 yen, and Seagate's official price was 460 dollars.

The hard disk, numbered ST10000VX0004, is a traditional 3.5-inch disk. It uses SATA 6Gbps interface and 256MB cache. Its internal transmission speed is up to 210MB/s, and the average time between failures is 1 million hours. It monitors DVR and NVR for small and medium-sized enterprises, with workload rating of 180TB/year and three-year warranty. It is equipped with ImagePerfect firmware optimized for monitoring applications. It can record 64 high-definition video streams at the same time. The operating temperature range is 0-70 ℃, and the read/write power consumption is 6.8W. It supports data recovery services.
