Compared with 2015, the smart phone market in 2016 was more difficult and dangerous. MediaTek and Huawei also used ARM Cortex-A72, which enabled MediaTek, which has always enjoyed the reputation of "focusing on low-end", to compete with high-end SoC. Huawei Kirin SoC, which has always been criticized as "the performance of the previous generation", also entered the high-end ranks. Xiaomi 5, Huawei P9, and Meizu PRO 6 are not only the flagship phones of the top three domestic companies in the first half of the year, but also the representative models of Qualcomm (Snapdragon 820), Huawei (Kirin 955), and MediaTek (X25). Therefore, this evaluation is of great significance. Let's take a look at the winners and losers.
Parameter specification
In terms of basic specifications, except for Meizu PRO 6, the configuration specifications of Xiaomi 5 and Huawei P9 are similar. All three use USB Type-C interface, but only Meizu PRO 6 uses USB 3.1, Xiaomi 5 and Huawei P9 use USB 2.0. In addition, although they all support the fast charging specification, the Huawei P9 is the only one that does not have a standard fast charging head.
appearance
In terms of appearance, Meizu PRO 6 and Huawei P9 are both metal bodies, and their cameras are specially designed. Meizu places the ring flash under the camera. Unfortunately, the camera still has a slight bulge. The camera part of Huawei P9 is covered by a rectangular 2.5 glass. The camera part has no convex glass and metal junction, and there is no cutting feeling. The body surface of Meizu PRO 6 adopts a painting process similar to that of the iPhone 6s. It feels very close to the iPhone 6s, giving a feeling of more youth and vitality. The Huawei P9 body shows that it is a layer of metal wire drawing, and the metal feeling will not be too strong. It has a business atmosphere, which is more mature and stable. Middle aged people may like it more.
The Xiaomi 5 (high configuration version) is different from the above two parts. It adopts the structure of glass+metal+glass, that is, the back shell is made of glass and is equipped with a metal middle frame. The glass back shell and the metal middle frame of Xiaomi 5 also have metal transition treatment, so there is no cutting feel. The back shell of Xiaomi 5 has a strong reflective feeling, which can be used as a mirror. The black Xiaomi 5 is almost completely black, and the frame part will not be as abrupt as the white Xiaomi 5. The only drawback is that the front screen of Xiaomi 5 does not use 2.5D curved glass design.

The screens of the three mobile phones all have a resolution of 1080P. As Meizu PRO 6 is an AMOLED screen, the brightness is congenitally deficient. The brightness of Xiaomi 5 and Huawei P9 is high, but their performance at the highest brightness is very uneven. The maximum difference between their screens can reach 100 nits.

On the system side, all three have their own preferences. The Flyme 5 system will be lighter and more dynamic, while MIUI 7 will be relatively cumbersome. The whole system is heavier, with the largest number of built-in apps. Huawei's EMUI 4 is somewhere in between, characterized by a more business oriented theme style and color matching.
None of the three systems has a secondary menu. In their own music apps, when the author enters the latest "My Heroes Academy" OP, only Huawei Music pops up the corresponding search results, while the other two do not respond. Xiaomi's own music does not support anime songs well, and many anime music do not have results displayed. In addition, some strange things appear in Xiaomi's file management among the three built-in file managers.
performance
In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 820 is almost the only one In many GPU tests, Meizu PRO 6 leads the pack. The performance of Meizu PRO 6 is moderate, and its performance is basically between Huawei P9 and Xiaomi 5. However, Huawei P9's performance is somewhat extreme. It has certain advantages in some projects, such as GeekBench multi-core, Pi, and other projects that are equal to multi-core, while its performance in GPU related projects is poor.
In fact, because Huawei P9 has four A72 cores, while Meizu PRO 6 has only two A72 cores, and because Android has better new support for multi-core, the Kirin 955 may have more advantages in the case of high CPU load, while the Snapdragon 820 is only better than GeekBench's single core. In terms of single core performance, its performance is not as good as that of a single A72 core. In terms of daily performance, whether it is application loading or multi task switching, the Kirin 955 will outperform the Snapdragon 820 and MT6797T.
The problem with the Kirin 955 and MTK6797T is that their GPUs are only the Mali T880MP4. Compared with the Adreno 530 of the Snapdragon 820, the performance gap is too large. However, it is no problem to only play some games that do not have a high load on the GPU, such as Burst (40 frames on average) and Royal War.

In this group of samples, Meizu PRO 6 failed to focus on nearly 10 consecutive samples, so only the samples of Meizu PRO 6 showed false focus. Huawei P9 has a problem with the white balance in this scenario, but its edge resolution is still stronger than Xiaomi 5.
Meizu PRO 6: The biggest problem of Meizu PRO 6 in the process of taking photos is the low success rate of focusing under the distant weak light. Once encountering a scene where automatic phase focusing is not possible, even if the shutter is pressed repeatedly, one of the dozen images may not be able to focus successfully. At this time, you can only choose to manually click the screen to focus. Moreover, the shutter response of Meizu PRO 6 is the slowest among the three, which is not a good experience.
Huawei P9: Huawei P9 also maintains a special style when taking ordinary color photos. Its exposure is often not high, and sometimes there are some small problems with the white balance. It seems that this is not a good way to do it simply from the perspective of photo restoration. However, this feature will make the samples look "moral", and some users will like this style. Although Huawei P9 does not have optical anti shake, from the perspective of imaging, its performance under extremely weak light imaging is significantly better than that of Xiaomi 5 and Meizu PRO 6, which can be attributed to algorithm optimization.
Xiaomi 5: The shutter response (not the shutter time) of Xiaomi 5 is the fastest among the three, and the focusing speed is also very fast. In daytime imaging, its analytical power is significantly stronger than Meizu PRO 6 and Huawei P9. The disadvantage is that compared with the other two, its white balance performance is not stable enough, and its noise control is poor under weak light.

In terms of endurance, during our three hour endurance test, Xiaomi 5 has obvious advantages. The remaining power is still 77%, followed by Huawei P9, which has 70% of the remaining power, and Meizu PRO 6, which has 64% of the remaining power.
In terms of heating, after running NBA 2K15 for one hour, the maximum temperature of PRO 6 is 41.2 ℃, that of Huawei P9 is 42.4 ℃, and that of Xiaomi 5 is 45.4 ℃.
summary
There are many standards to measure an excellent flagship smartphone, so users should pay more attention when selecting it. For example, the Xiaomi 5 has better endurance and GPU performance, while the Huawei P9 is more fluent in daily use and has better night shot effect, and the Meizu PRO 6 is better in system and fast charge. Choose something more suitable for you. Huawei P9, Xiaomi 5, and Meizu PRO 6 are not really "dead ends". In fact, when we purchase mobile phones, we will be affected by more factors, including but not limited to price, cost performance, brand, celebrity endorsement, and even family and friends' awareness. This article only lists some of the evaluation items for reference.
