Xiaomi 5/Huawei P9/Meizu PRO 6 Photo Comparison of Three Flagships Made in China

Millet 5 Huawei P9 Meizu PRO 6 These three mobile phones can be said to be the representative works of domestic smart flagship phones in the first half of 2016, so the difference in photo quality between them has also become a topic of concern. In terms of photography, Xiaomi 5 is the most luxurious, equipped with IMX298 and four axis optical anti shake. Huawei P9 does not use optical anti shake, but it is equipped with a dual camera combination of IMX286+IMX Mono, and the lens is Leica certified, while Meizu uses Soni IMX230, which also has no optical anti shake.

In terms of parameters alone, due to the different focal lengths, pixels, and individual pixel sizes of the three, the imaging of the three will have some emphasis. For example, Meizu PRO 6 is high in pixels, but because of its small focal length, its performance in analytical power may not be very obvious for the other three. Xiaomi is equipped with four-axis optical anti shake, but from the test results, Its performance in night imaging is also not excellent.

In the first group of samples, the performance of the three is similar, except that Xiaomi 5 has obvious advantages in analytical power, while Huawei P9 and Meizu PRO 6 have the same strength.

In this group of scenes, the sun shines directly from the building site, and some lights and shadows appear in the sample of Huawei P9. Xiaomi 5 and Meizu PRO 6 behave normally. After amplification, Meizu PRO 6 has the best control of noise. Unfortunately, Xiaomi 5 still has obvious advantages in terms of analytical power. Huawei P9 has a relatively blurred picture.

Here, the white balance of Xiaomi 5 has obviously shifted. The whole white balance is cold, while the performance of Huawei P9 and Meizu PRO 6 is the white balance in the real scene.

In this group of samples, Xiaomi 5 and Huawei P9 both control light well, while Meizu PRO 6 shows too much exposure.

In this group of samples, affected by sunlight, Huawei P9 and Meizu PRO 6 both showed some overexposure, and Xiaomi 5 was well controlled in this exposure.

In terms of daytime performance, Meizu PRO 6 is 21 million pixels, but its analytical power is not as good as Xiaomi 5. It can only draw with Huawei P9's 12 million pixels. Although Meizu PRO 6 has the largest wide-angle among several machines and a large viewfinder range, it is found after calculation that even when displaying the same object, Meizu PRO 6 will still have more pixels than Huawei P9 in the sample, but this does not show in the analytical power.

In this group of indoor samples, only Xiaomi 5 can clearly see the small font under the blue billboard. Huawei P9 is slightly better than Meizu PRO 6.

In this group of underground garages, Xiaomi 5 is obviously limited by the algorithm. Its sample shows some rough processing traces. If it is not magnified, it is OK. After magnified, it will give people the illusion of a lot of noise. In fact, it is a mistake of algorithm processing. The Huawei P9 is a little over smudged. The white font of the green wallpaper is almost obliterated, while the performance of the Meizu PRO 6 is not good, but it is significantly better than the other two mobile phones.

In this group of samples, the white balance of Xiaomi 5 has shifted.

In this group of samples, the dark noise of Xiaomi 5 is very obvious, and even some color noise appears.

In this group of extremely weak light scenes on the construction site, Xiaomi 5, Huawei P9, and Meizu PRO 6 all showed varying degrees of glare. Meizu PRO 6 was the most serious, and the whole picture of Meizu PRO 6 in this scene was purple. The only thing was that noise processing was better than Xiaomi 5. Xiaomi 5 also has a hard time in this scene, with various problems such as color noise, light spots, and poor resolution. The best performer is Huawei P9. The picture is obviously more pure than Xiaomi 5 and Meizu PRO 6. The advantage of noise control is very obvious.

In this group of samples, Xiaomi 5 performs worse. The noise in the sky and buildings seems to have not been processed, but the sharpness still remains at the same level as in the daytime, but the noise control is too poor. Huawei P9 is the best in this group of samples. It has obvious advantages in image purity, noise control, and analytical power. In addition, Meizu's focus becomes somewhat difficult in weak light, especially in the distant light. Sometimes it even needs to focus manually.

In this group of samples, Meizu PRO 6 failed to focus on nearly 10 consecutive samples, so only the samples of Meizu PRO 6 showed false focus. Huawei P9 has a problem with the white balance in this scenario, but its edge resolution is still stronger than Xiaomi 5.

summary

Meizu PRO 6: The biggest problem of Meizu PRO 6 in the process of taking photos is the low success rate of focusing under the distant weak light. Once encountering a scene where automatic phase focusing is not possible, even if the shutter is pressed repeatedly, one of the dozen images may not be able to focus successfully. At this time, you can only choose to manually click the screen to focus. Moreover, the shutter response of Meizu PRO 6 is the slowest among the three, which is not a good experience.

Huawei P9: Huawei P9 also maintains a special style when taking ordinary color photos. Its exposure is often not high, and sometimes there are some small problems with the white balance. It seems that this is not a good way to do it simply from the perspective of photo restoration. However, this feature will make the samples look "moral", and some users will like this style. Although Huawei P9 does not have optical anti shake, from the perspective of imaging, its performance under extremely weak light imaging is significantly better than that of Xiaomi 5 and Meizu PRO 6, which can be attributed to algorithm optimization.

Xiaomi 5: The shutter response (not the shutter time) of Xiaomi 5 is the fastest among the three, and the focusing speed is also very fast. In daytime imaging, its analytical power is significantly stronger than Meizu PRO 6 and Huawei P9. The disadvantage is that compared with the other two, its white balance performance is not stable enough, and its noise control is poor under weak light.
