Samsung confirms that Snapdragon 820 uses the second generation 14nm FinFET process

The Snapdragon 820 has been rumored to be manufactured by Samsung. Today, Samsung It officially confirmed the news and said that Samsung's latest second-generation 14nm FinFET process was used for mass production. The original words of the Samsung Electronics spokesman are as follows:

“We are pleased to start production of our industry-leading, 2nd generation 14nm FinFET process technology that delivers the highest level of performance and power efficiency. Samsung will continue to offer derivative processes of its advanced 14nm FinFET technology to maintain our technology leadership.”By  Charlie Bae(Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing,System LSI Business,Samsung Electronics)

This also shows that the Snapdragon 820 will have the characteristics of LPP (Low Power Plus). Compared with using the first generation 14nm FinFET technology to manufacture processors, it can increase the speed by 15% while reducing the battery consumption by 15%, giving consideration to both performance and endurance. Samsung's own Exynos 8890 will also use this process if there is no accident. At present, the first generation 14nm FinFET process is used by the Apple A9 processor manufactured by Samsung, and the Exynos 7420 equipped on the flagship of Samsung Galaxy series. After using the most advanced technology, I don't know whether Snapdragon 820 can solve the "hot" problem of 810 years ago.
