Samsung recently released a new wearable device chip called Bio Processor (BP). It can continuously track the user's heart rate and can be used in the fields of health, sports and daily life.
Compared with current wearable devices and smart phones, BP's heart rate tracking is more accurate, because it uses ECG to detect heart activity. The chip also has built-in flash memory and Bluetooth, which can be connected to the user's mobile phone or other devices. The only problem is that it needs to be connected to the skin next to the heart to work properly.
For patients and professional athletes, continuous heart rate tracking is obviously beneficial, but this chip also has more mainstream application potential. By measuring the pulse, BP can identify the wearer, which turns it into a digital key that can be used to open your car or home, or even automatically download your personal information to a new device.
Although the capability of this technology is still limited, if Samsung can apply BP to wearable devices, it may completely change the entire wearable field
