As early as in our student days, we had personal contact with the projector. In our memory, the projector in our mind is so huge. The projection picture can also be described as a giant screen. Everything can be described as tall. However, projectors always appear in some specific occasions, such as multimedia classrooms, company meeting rooms, etc. It is difficult for ordinary people to see them until the first year of intelligent hardware.

With the explosion of smart hardware in China, from smart bracelets to smart watches, from smart toilet covers to smart bicycles, hardware is not only labeled with the "smart" prefix, but more is the direct transfer of once military and commercial products to civilian use, so that ordinary users have more contact. Micro projector is a distinctive representative.

When it comes to micro projectors, they always appear to be small, cheap, usable and large screen, while the name of the manufacturer is more like "Nuts". No matter depending on the star effect or the unique round appearance of its products, nuts have already established a core position in the micro projection industry since G1. Today, the author took the lead in experiencing the latest product P1 of nuts, a portable projector, with the help of Lei Feng's trial platform.

Unpacking&Appearance

For a portable product, the small size is expected. In addition, the author has some guesses about the P1 packaging from the theme color of the official website, but there is still some confusion when the product is actually produced. The black cardboard packaging rarely reveals product information.

After careful observation, the front of the package looks like a product outline, but it is difficult to associate the product appearance from this outline.

Nuts put all product information on the bottom left corner of the back of the packaging box through a post it sticker.

The two ends of the box are the "JmGO" logo of nuts.

The upper and lower packaging similar to the iPhone is adopted. What is commendable is that the damping of the upper and lower parts of the packaging box is applicable, and the packaging can be opened slowly depending on the product's own weight, without the need to manually "buckle" the product.

The internal product packaging is also relatively simple. The left side is the product theme, and the instructions and power adapter are placed on the right side of the packaging.

The manual is integrated with the warranty card. The manual is illustrated and explained in detail, which is undoubtedly a great benefit for novice users.

What is different from the product size is the power adapter, which is roughly the same as the Macbook power adapter in shape, but also has the same size. The only thing I can explain about such a large size adapter is the consideration of safety and fast charging.

Users who are familiar with Nuts must know something about the G1 remote control. Its remote control is a major feature of the product. However, on P1, Nuts has abandoned the design of the remote control and replaced the common micro projector remote control with the physical keys on the body and the mobile phone APP. Unfortunately, so far, the mobile app is only available in Android, and iOS still needs to wait for some time. It can be clearly seen from the software screenshot that although it can be identified as a machine model, the icon in front of the name is still G1.

There is also a pair of active shutter 3D glasses randomly distributed, which are required for all 3D movie and TV viewing of P1.

The nut P1 continues the appearance style of the family, except that the disc shape is replaced by a column shape, which is precisely for the consideration of portability, because the cylindrical shape similar to a water cup is easier to put into the backpack, and the specific three-dimensional size is 245 (H) × 73 (Φ) mm, which can be easily put into the backpack.

The cylindrical arc of the fuselage is divided into four parts by the lens, the back interface, the base and the fuselage keys on the top.

The front of the fuselage is a P1 lens, which can obviously observe that the lens barrel is made of metal material, which can alleviate the problem of out of focus to a certain extent. The left side of the lens is a light yellow tuning knob. The damping of the tuning knob is quite large, which can avoid misoperation and out of focus due to external vibration to a certain extent.

On the right side of the lens are the air inlet and infrared window, which can help focus. On the far right side of the front of the camera is the logo of nuts.

It makes full use of the back space to lay out interfaces. P1 interfaces are not rich and can barely meet the daily needs, but this does not seem to have such a big impact on a portable product. In terms of data interaction, it provides dual USB interface (one of which is Micro USB) and AV IN interface, and in terms of video output, it is common HDMI.

In order to avoid using the bottom of the machine as a vacuum cleaner, thereby affecting the service life of the machine, nut P1 places the air outlet on the back of the machine body.

The bottom of the fuselage is covered with a lot of product information. In order to increase the stability of product placement, the bottom not only adopts a section design, but also applies a silicone to provide sufficient friction. The middle is the support interface (the support needs to be purchased additionally), so P1 has very low requirements for the use environment.

Because the design of the remote control is abandoned, a series of commonly used physical keys are concentrated on the top of P1, and the gap between the key module and the body is large, which is easy to hide dirt in daily use.

The top and bottom surfaces of the "cylinder" are P1 symmetrical speakers. After the actual experience, the volume and sound quality are very good.

Projection mode

At present, there are mainly two types of core technology of the projector products, which occupy the leading position in the market, namely, the monolithic LCD technology projector and the full digital DLP intelligent 3D projector.

The projector based on the monolithic LCD technology uses the photoelectric effect of liquid crystal, that is, the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules changes under the effect of electric field, which affects the transmittance or reflectivity of its liquid crystal unit, thus affecting its optical properties, and producing images with different gray levels and colors. It adopts the technology of single LCD screen and high-power packaged LED lamp. The driver is generally the chip of Taiwan Morningstar Semiconductor Mstar, a famous TV chip manufacturer. This technical product generally has low contrast, low brightness, and obvious flashlight effect. It is an entry-level product of household projection television.

The all digital DLP intelligent projector, which uses DMD (Digital Mirror Device) digital micromirror as the imaging device, is an all digital reflective projection technology. The first feature is digital advantage. With the adoption of digital technology, the gray level of the image is improved, the image noise disappears, the image quality is stable, and the digital image is very accurate. The second is reflective advantage. With the application of reflective DMD devices, the total optical efficiency of imaging devices is greatly improved, and the contrast and brightness uniformity are excellent. The DLP projector has high definition, uniform picture and sharp color. It has powerful functions such as a projection screen of 200 inches, illumination lumens of more than 1500 lumens, 2D and 3D one button conversion.

The projection technology adopted by P1 is DLP. However, the brightness is only 250 lumens, which is average in strong light environment, but the imaging effect is good in weak light and at night.

Projection size

Nut P1 supports a maximum projection of 180 inches. According to the data on the official website, there is a prerequisite for obtaining this giant screen effect. The projection distance needs 4.8 to 5.5 meters. It is believed that many families can not reach this distance, but they can reach 80 inches within 2.5 meters, which has fully satisfied the daily needs.

Compared with other micro projectors, P1's projection picture and the direct function of distance are not a specific value, which is just the digital zoom function P1 has, and it is more flexible to obtain the projection size in limited space.

UI Design

Due to the open source feature of Android, almost all micro projectors use Android system, and P1 is no exception.

The UI style of Nut P1 is similar to that of Metro in Win8, with clear colors and simple and clear structure of large card icons. In addition, the special horizontal screen interaction alleviates the disadvantage of no remote control to some extent.

As a film and television product, the film source is particularly important. Nut P1 itself is just a platform product, which can make up for its own shortcomings through in-depth cooperation with Yangguang Galaxy Litchi TV (iQiyi).

The installed applications can be clearly seen in the application center, while P1 itself has applications and The number of apps in the game store is limited, which is a pity for those who like to play with computers. However, the author tested that P1 can install third-party applications directly through the USB flash drive. Although this is contrary to radio and television in some aspects, it is beneficial to users without harm. By installing third-party applications, users can choose network source software by themselves.

Nut P1 has also added some personalized services. In "My", users can view "Play Record", "My Collection", etc.

Compared with similar products on the market, Huayi V5's setting interface is a bit simple. What is slightly more complicated is the display settings.

In display settings, users can set the brightness of projection according to the environment. Through the adjustment of lifting and projection mode, four projection modes can be provided: front projection, rear projection, inverted coin projection and inverted rear projection.

Playback effect

Through Yangguang Galaxy Litchi TV and third-party applications, the film and television resources of Nut P1 are not a problem. Let's take a look at its broadcast effect.

From the actual experience of the author, the clarity and fluency of the playback are good, and there is no "stuck" phenomenon in the whole experience process.

Due to limited shooting equipment and shooting environment, the actual projection effect will be better than the renderings we shot. Especially for pure color test, the actual effect will be more natural and accurate.

R. The four solid colors G, B and Y are more natural, and the expressive force of yellow is slightly worse.

In the presentation of office documents, the text is clear and the lines are straight and clear, but there are still some gaps with professional commercial projectors.

Endurance&Heat Test

Nut P1 comes with a very large battery (15600mAh), The author actually measured that the high-definition video can be played online for 4 hours, which is fully consistent with the positioning of mobile use. However, in use, it was found that the current system does not appear low battery warning in the case of low power, but directly shuts down on a black screen. It may be due to the engineering machine, the battery display in the upper right corner has been 100%, and has not changed, I hope this bug can be solved through firmware upgrade. In terms of heating, P1 controls very well. After 2 hours of continuous online play, the hottest place is the air outlet, and only the temperature of warming hands.
