Time delay photography is also called time-lapse photography or freeze frame photography, which is a common shooting mode. It is a photography technology that plays back pictures quickly at a low frame rate. Time delay photography is usually used to shoot urban scenery, natural scenery, astronomical phenomena, biological evolution and other subjects. For example, it takes about 3 days and 3 nights for the flower bud to open. We take a picture of it every half hour, and finally use 6 seconds to reproduce the process of flower bud blooming in 3 days and 3 nights. Another example is that clouds move slowly at ordinary times. By delaying photography, you can achieve the effect of wind and cloud changing, light and shadow flowing.
In many cameras, there is a time delay photography function, but for those who do not have a camera, you can also use the Canon SLR camera on hand to achieve the time delay photography function, and the picture quality is much better than that of the camera.
Now let's take a look at the delay photography effect taken by the small editor with Canon 5D Mark II. The effect is quite good. The photo was taken at 11:23 p.m. and was taken at 4:33 a.m. the next day, which means that the video of less than one minute showed the changes of more than five hours last night. In the video, we can not only see the light and shadow flow of the ground traffic flow and the changes of the clouds, but also see the movement of stars at night.
The video above was shot with 5D Mark II. We took a photo every 15 seconds. Last night, 1244 photos were taken for one, wasting 1244 shutter times (in fact, more than 500 shutter times were used during the test). Once every 15 seconds, it will take more than 5 hours!! I have to stand in front of the camera and press the shutter for more than 5 hours!!! Of course not. We just need to brush the 5D2 firmware of Magci Lantern to automatically realize delayed photography. Those who don't know how to brush can See the machine brushing tutorial. After brushing the machine, the delay photography can be realized according to the following method.
1 Set the camera to M gear, and manually set the shutter, aperture, iSO, and focus
2 After brushing the firmware of the magic lamp, the first thing we need to do is call up the magic lamp menu, and press and hold the delete key of the camera.
3 Turn to the Shot menu and select Interval meter
4 Press the Set key to turn on the delayed shooting option
5 Press the photo style button on the left side of the camera (some Canon cameras press the Q button) to select the time interval for shooting,
6. Press the camera shutter halfway to start shooting automatically. The camera will automatically shoot every few seconds according to the time set by your camera, and keep shooting until the camera is out of power or full. So if you want to stop, you can directly switch the camera from M to another mode, or you can directly remove the battery at a violent point.
6 Finally, import the pictures you have taken into After Effect and other video post-processing software in the form of picture sequences, and output them after setting. (It seems easier to use Quick Time player 7)
Well, actually, the shooting process has ended by now, but there are still some places that need to be added. It has just been said that more than 1000 5D2 shutter shots have been wasted in order to shoot the video in less than one minute. It is estimated that many people will be very distressed, so you can also use FPS.
1 Press the delete key to enter the magic lamp menu and select Movie mode
2 Select the FPS override option, and then press the photo style button (some Canon cameras press the Q key) to enter the FPS settings
3 Select the number of delayed shooting frames you want (the minimum frame number of 5D2 is 0.15 frames per second)
4 Press set to start shooting directly
Both FPS and the first method can achieve the effect of delayed photography, but from the perspective of image quality, the first method can achieve higher resolution shooting, but this method consumes too much shutter, and in addition, it also requires video post-processing for the pictures taken, which is stressful for some people who are not familiar with the software.
Although the second method does not require shutter loss or post-processing, it is limited by the lowest frame rate, so it will be limited in some creative aspects.
Finally, I would like to add that a good tripod is very important when shooting. The tripod made by Xiaobian is of poor quality, so the vibration of the shutter also causes video jitter.
