In today's smart phone market, there are more and more products focusing on thin and light models and playing with body materials. In order to take into account the ultra-thin body, the battery capacity of these phones is often relatively small. On April 23, TCL released a "counter current" P618L, which features a large capacity battery of up to 5000mAh.
TCL P618L adopts the design of "Panda". The front panel is black and the back cover is white.
There is no special element on the front panel. There are three touch buttons below. The distinctive feature is that the shape of the home button is designed as a silver circle.
The front panel of the TCL P618L also caters to the trend. It uses a 2.5D glass, which feels quite smooth.
It is worth mentioning that there is an LED signal light on the right side of the receiver, which will light up when the system has a notice.
The back cover is an integrated design. There is a layer of matt white paint on the surface, which feels good. There is a silver frame around the camera, which is not a simple decoration.
13 million pixel rear camera, 5P lens, F2.2 aperture, with a led fill light.
After removing the back cover around the camera, you can see that the P618L has two card slots, corresponding to the TF card and the SIM card. After pulling out the SIM card holder, you can see that it supports two micro SIM cards. The version we tested this time supports 4G and GSM, and card 1 supports telecom cards.
On the right side of the fuselage are the volume key and power key.
There is a micro USB interface and noise reduction microphone on the top of the fuselage.
There is a 3.5mm headphone interface and call microphone at the bottom of the body. It can be seen that the overall body layout of the P618L is relatively conventional.
The P618L uses a 1280 * 720 AMOLED screen, which is very colorful.
The visual angle also has a good performance.
However, due to the Pentile arrangement, the screen fineness is not excellent. The screen using AMOLED consumes less power and can further reduce the thickness of the fuselage, which is more consistent with the route of P618L's main endurance.
The system on P618L is based on Android 4.4.4. The system basically maintains its original style, but only adds a set of TCL's own launcher. Therefore, it is believed that ordinary users will easily get started. Of course, TCL also replaced P618L with more colorful icons to enhance recognition.
P618L also provides a wealth of online topics for selection.
The above are theme displays of different styles.
The launcher also supports sliding special effects, wallpaper scrolling, desktop layout and other settings, which are much richer than the native system.
The drop-down bar maintains its original style. The default drop-down bar is to display system notifications.
The other page displays shortcut switches, but the number of switches is richer than that of native Android.
It can be seen from the system settings that the P618L system is very close to the native system. In particular, it provides 4G network switches and dual card settings.
The system is based on Android 4.4.4, and the kernel version is 3.10.28.
The system does not provide support for ART operation mode.
Enter the dual card setting, you can switch the dual card, and you can also select the default voice/data SIM card.
Although most of the system maintains the characteristics of native Android, the P618L dial-up is localized and optimized. It supports the detection of the phone's home location and also supports T9 dial-up, which is more practical for domestic users.

As a key product with long life, the P618L is not high-end. It uses a Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor. It is composed of four core Cortex-A53 1.2GHz, made with 28nm technology, and matched with 1G Ram.
The P618L uses a 5-inch 720P screen. The GPU uses Adreno 306 400MHz. The GPU driver version is V84 and supports OpenGL ES3.0.
We also conducted a series of theoretical run tests on P618L, and the results are for reference only:
According to the well-known evaluation of Anthare, the P618L is not the main mobile phone, so there is no big surprise in scoring.
The frames of GFXBench 3 and Adreno 306 in these two tests are also not ideal.
Geekbench 3, It can be seen that the low frequency+quad core Snapdragon 410 is not strong in processing performance.
A1 SD Bench, It can be seen that the flash memory reading speed of P618L is good and the writing speed is weak.
From the above test results, P618L still meets our performance expectations for Snapdragon 410. Performance is not its selling point. The use of low-frequency quad core processors can further reduce the power consumption of mobile phones. In order to support the telecommunication network, Qualcomm's SoC is used, so we can only choose Snapdragon 410 in this case, which is understandable. In addition, after the system is upgraded to Android 5.0, it is believed that the P618L using 64 bit chips will have some performance improvements.
In addition, we also tested the daily smoothness of the P618L. The above is to use the GPU rendering curve to check the smoothness of sliding (the yellow line and the red line not exceeding the green line represent smoothness of sliding. From the test results, even Snapdragon 410 has a good performance in terms of smoothness of sliding due to the use of 720P screen.
The P618L is not a mobile phone that focuses on taking pictures, but it is also equipped with a mainstream 13 megapixel camera and F2.2 aperture. As for the photographing interface, there is no change compared with the native system.
From the above two screenshots, it can be seen that P618L point is very sensitive in light measurement.
The following are some live photos of P618L:
From the above two samples, it can be seen that P618L does not control noise well enough, especially when the light is poor, ISO will be higher and color noise is obvious. In the case of good light, the analytical power can basically reach the level of 13 million pixels.
The P618L we got supports telecom 4G and dual card dual standby, and supports telecom LTE network.
We also used Speedtest to test the indoor network speed. It can be seen that the uplink and downlink speeds of Telecom 4G are both good, especially the uplink speed is high, which has approached the downlink speed.
From 5000mAh, Snapdragon 410, 5 inch 720P AMOLED screen and other hardware, we can all imagine that the P618L is definitely a monster product with long endurance. How about its actual application performance? We also conducted relevant tests:
We conducted a three hour high intensity endurance test, and the measured results show that the endurance of the P618L is really outstanding, especially after half an hour of large-scale games and video playback, it only consumes 6% and 4% of the power. This level of power consumption is also quite impressive in all mobile phones, and it is also the best one among the mobile phones we have tested.
The OTG cable inside the package can enable P618L to charge other mobile phones.
From the above tests, the P618L has a mainstream hardware configuration, but its battery capacity is twice or more than that of similar mobile phones. It is not outstanding in other hardware, and is suitable for users with high demand for endurance. In addition, P618L also has dual cards and dual standby, which supports telecommunications and other functions, and is more suitable for business people. And its price of 1690 yuan is not high, which is worth the price for such a competitive product.
