Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, Snapdragon 805, Exynos 5433 and other high-end SoCs have begun to support the eMMC 5.0 standard, bringing strong storage performance to smart phones. Samsung will introduce a new UFS standard flash memory for smart phones, and the next generation flagship Galaxy S6 is likely to be applied.
UFS flash memory combines the advantages of SSD on PC and eMMC on mobile device to provide ultra-high speed storage and low power optimization. The maximum speed of UFS flash memory reaches 1.2GB/s, which is three times of the current eMMC standard. In addition to Samsung, SK Hynix, Toshiba, SanDisk and other manufacturers are also developing UFS standard flash memory, and Samsung also plans to integrate this technology into SD cards.
