On August 19, it was reported that the solid-state storage association JEDEC recently announced the UFS 2.2 storage standard.
Compared with UFS 2.1, the change of UFS 2.2 is mainly due to the introduction of the WriteBooster write acceleration technology, which has improved the write speed of flash memory, while the read speed has not changed - it can be understood that the write performance of the enhanced version of UFS 2.1 has improved, but the specific improvement in the write performance will not be seen until the UFS 2.2 flash memory product is launched.
This WriteBooster write acceleration technology is not the first time. At the beginning of this year, some flagship models equipped with UFS 3.0 flash memory achieved a write speed similar to that of UFS 3.1 flash memory through WriteBooster technology.
In the relevant technical parameters of the mid tier 5G chip Tianji 720 and Tianji 800U previously released by MediaTek, we can see that they all support the UFS 2.2 flash memory standard at the highest level. This standard flash memory may become the standard configuration of some mid tier models in the future. At present, with the efforts of the supply chain and mobile phone manufacturers, UFS 2.1 has basically replaced emmc 5.1 as the common configuration of flash memory for mid end mobile phones; The models equipped with flagship chips must have gone for the more powerful UFS 3.1.
