Qualcomm's performance in the fourth fiscal quarter was lower than expected

Qualcomm released its financial report for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2014 and the full year. The financial report shows that Qualcomm's revenue in the fourth fiscal quarter was $6.69 billion, up 3% year on year and down 2% month on month; Net profit was US $1.89 billion, up 26% year on year and down 15% month on month. While analysts' average expected revenue was $7.02 billion, Qualcomm's share price fell 4%.

Qualcomm's revenue in fiscal 2014 was 26.49 billion US dollars, up 7% year on year; Net profit was US $7.97 billion, up 16% year on year. Qualcomm expects revenue of $6.6 billion to $7.2 billion and earnings per share of $1 billion to $1.12 in the first fiscal quarter of fiscal 2015. Analysts on average expect Qualcomm's revenue to be $7.38 billion and earnings per share to be $1.43.

Steve Mollenkopf, CEO of Qualcomm, said that the licensing problems and antitrust investigations faced by the Chinese market in 2015 will affect Qualcomm's performance guidance expectations.
